location in center of Manhattan is good
staff not interested in helping the clients, feels like interacting with state authorities in communist countries, old infrastructure, they try to put you in cheaper room than paid, external breakfast awful.

The location
A very old and tired room. Having just flown for 18 hours to stand in a queue at Check-In for 70mins was totally unacceptable

Location very good. Very cheap.
Cleaners stole sunglasses. Smell of rat poison. Stains everywhere. Musty. Cracks in walls and floors. Filthy.

The hotel rooms and hallways are completely run down. Our bathroom was dirty and they rewrapped used soap. The towels looked very weathered. And the bed and pillows were so not good.

Hotel Pennsylvania was once a decent place to crash for the night, but it needs updating. The doors are from 1919.......that is not something to brag about! The breakfast coupon was fine, but the room was dated and crumbling.
There was a one hour wait to check in......that lobby was built with 10 check in desks, but only one was open. I found out later that you could check in at a kiosk, but there was no signage about that so there is no way to know. I have stayed here three times and the waiting time is always crazy.

We were bitten by mosquitos everywhere and we were miaserable staying there. When we were in the shower and any neighboring room used the bathroom then the water would scorch us. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone

The location was the best thing. Just down the street from Empire State Building, across the street from Penn Station and Madison Square Garden! The outside of hotel looks great.
It being an old hotel, the rooms were very basic. Could use some updating. As busy as they were, they could have been better staffed.

Hotel room and some staff members are rude and waiting in line take too long . The check in/out counter is nice but when you see the room it is so off from the counter. The room picture in seems very nice that is why I booked it but I was very disappointed

We arrived to have been given a room that is extremely old and in need of renovation. ALSO, it had not been cleaned behind the previous guests. They gave me another room that was better. The beds were a bit uncomfortable. The hotel is just old and creepy. Felt like I was in a scary movie! I will not stay here again. These hotels really need to do better! With the rates they charge, no one should have to deal with these type of issues!!

Location great. Room size, great for NYC, stayed in a room with 4 separate beds. Customer service in the R Cafe where breakfast is served was poor. However, hotel management responded to our complaint and apologized.
upgrade interior, very old fashioned but clean and stable

The location close to Penn Station
We had a mouse in our room and had to move to another room, personally I think I should have been fully credited for one night but they only gave us 75 off for the inconvenience

There is hardly anything to like about this place. may be subway station is across the road.
It was the worst stay in my life. Hotel staff is very rude. The rooms are poorly cleaned. Carpet was stinking. Any request you make hardly gets fulfilled. If you want to stay in this area go for the other hotels.

Just the location!
I had to change rooms. In the room on the 5th floor the faucet in the shower was dripping non stop and the bathtub was grotty and peeling. Room 1519A was smelling and the doors and walls are all cracked and peeling. The room had a bad smell and the carpets smelled too. I paid far too much money for a really crappy disgusting room. I may be South African but please do not be mistaken that we have high end hotels with high standards. It was only on my departure did the gentlemen at the front desk, Shahid, inform me of your renovated floors. The manager on tge day I arrived should have been forthcoming and given me a decent room. Thankfully I was traveling on my own and did have to be in the room much. That said please stop advertising Hotel Pennsylvania as a high end hotel. Be upright and honest with your guests. This is my 5th visit to NYC but it will certainly not be my last. I love the city. Thank you.

I was able to upgrade to a better room ($200 per night extra for just a standard hotel room)
The first room I was put in was very dirty (stains on the walls, carpet, and curtains, rust in the bathroom, bugs in the room, and the shower had paint coming off) and the room was cramped. The bathroom was what you would expect for a YMCA gym bathroom... in order to be in a normal room I had to pay $200 extra per night. This hotel is one of the largest in NY so expect hoards of people everywhere. It is generally run down and shabby. Included breakfast is horrible (I ended up eating somewhere else instead). It’s directly across from Penn Station and close to Times Sqaure, so don’t expect quiet.

I love the location, in the heart of everything. The rooms are renovated and in good condition.
Service is not really good, staff are not welcoming and they are not friendly at all. Breakfast is super bad, hope didnt waste my time going for breakfast, 1 juice or coffee and one bread. It is outside the hotel and i wasted my time going under the rain for that.
