Because it is one of the older hotels, the room size is far larger than some of the newer builds. We stayed with our five year old son, and we never felt cramped or overwhelmed. The value for the dollar is hard to beat, and its location is near the Natural History Museum and Central Park—both of which we frequented during our stay. Great restaurants nearby, as well.
I suppose the only issues we really had had to do with hot water and the television. It took a LONG time for the water to get hot, and it never really got hot-hot. Also, we had to call about the tv remote more than once, as we think they were just switching ours out with ones that worked around the hotel.

The room was clean and the bathroom was lovely. We love the old building and the history. The location is really handy for us, as we have friends in the area.
We had no idea that when the doorman took our suitcases to the taxi when we left that the rate he informed us was double what it should have been. To make it worse, the taxi driver bribed him with $20 and then we were on the hook to pay that. Total scam so beware! We could easily have caught our own taxi and saved ourselves $100. Really not impressed. We were also supposed to have early check in as a member, but the room was not available (which is ok), but we were told to return at 4 and the room was still not available. At 430, after we had waited 1:15hr in the lobby, it was finally prepared. The small lobby was packed with people waiting for their rooms. I must admit, I enjoy the classic hotel but this was not a good experience and there are others in the neighbourhood available for a similar price point.

The Suite was fantastic, the location was fantastic and the area was also fantastic. One of the best expereinces we've had in a city and a large part is down to the base that we had (Hotel Lucerne)
Nothing. Enjoyed all of it. Maybe a bar in the hotel, but at the same time, it just meant we went and visited the local bars which were great.

Hotel Lucerne is an excellent hotel, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff is very nice , the location is great, the price is reasonable for New York. It is our favorite hotel to stay in when we visit friends and family in New York a few times a year.
