the room i was given originally was ridiculously small. when I arranged to get a larger room, which was only $30 more a night, I received a room that was almost twice as large with a table, reading chair and desk. It seems to me that the queen size room was either too small to be charged the rate that I paid or the king room was very cheap. I would have liked to have known before hand exactky what I was buying in terms of space and ammenities,
As this was the 2nd time that I stayed at the Beacon, I was quite disappointed and inconvenienced by the 2 day wait for a larger room and for my inability to unpack until well into my visit.

Great place on the upper west side with Neighbourhood restaurants all around. Easy walks to Central Park and subway.

Nice location if you want to be on the UWS. Close to the subway and many of the UWS attractions. Nice sized room with a nice view.
Bathroom and kitchenette could use a bit of a refresh. Seemingly no security around who gets in the elevator to go upstairs.

Location
Rooms in desperate need of renovation. Paint and carpet. Room was large, but very worn looking. Also the smell of pot in the hallway on the entire floor (9th) was overwhelming every single time we came in or went out! I thought the hotel was non smoking!!

The location is excellent. Market, coffee shop, restaurant, subway, Bus stop are all within a few minutes. Central Park is a few blocks away. This makes my stay so comfortable and save my time.
It would have been much better if there is a cafe inside hotel. (There is one outside next to the front door).

My room seemed to be bear a vent and frequently smelled of steak and pot. Neither are my thing.
