The location was good. I used to work in the area so I knew my way around, knew where to eat and knew what places not to go to. I like the nostalgia of the place. It was quiet and a little spooky at times. The lady that created us was also very nice and explained all the rules to us. The kitchen amenities were good. The room was clean and tidy.
This was a very interesting stay. I feel that the renovations that were made were rushed and not very well thought out. The bathroom was sloped, taking a shower was difficult. The bed wasnt very comfortable. Unfortunately we had a mouse help himself to some of our snacks. It just wasnt a good fit for me and grandson.

The suite was clean and cheerful and nicely appointed. Also, I needed a later checkout and Kellen, the owner, was quite receptive to that.
No complimentary coffee or water in the room however, the reason those were not provided was explained to me by the owner.

The Harlem Grand is a unique place, created with the finest taste, not a single detail is out of the context. We felt warmly welcomed and spent five marvellous days, place is close the A-Train on 125st, breakfast nearby. If in NYC, Harlem Grand will be the place to stay for us.

It was in a great location and the staff was very friendly. Even with minor hiccups everything was clean and orderly, and the service was fantastic for the price.
Other than a few creaky floor boards, there was nothing to dislike.

The location close to Columbia University
There are lots of rules. The glade air fresheners are very strong in the room.

The brownstone in Harlem is a convenient walk to neighborhood spots and close to Morningside Park. It also has easy access to express and local trains from St. Nicolas station. This location is comfortable and quiet with easy access to Harlem, Manhattanville, and nearby Columbia University (if you enjoy a short walk with stairs). The owner is helpful in giving an overview of the house, neighborhood, transportation, and providing clear instructions. She generally responds within 24 hours.
There is no one on site most of the time. You have to plan carefully for arrival and departure. This is more like an AirBnB than typical Booking sites.

The room was beautiful and very comfortable.
It was difficult to reach the owner because her mailbox was full the two times we called her. We had no soap in our bathroom. It was difficult for us to go up and down stairs in stocking feet.

This location is great. It's a quiet residential brownstone with everything within walking distance. Bus/subway stations, restaurants, coffee shops, and grocery stores are all easy walks. The owner is gracious and onsite if needed. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have stayed in. Don't hesitate to stay here. This place is a gem.

Very Good
The welcome was lovely and the host explained all the facilities and the area. The bed was super comfy and facilities good for a few nights, including use of a joint refrigerator, kettle, kitchenette etc.
A really quiet street with no noise which is hard to find in NY! Real close to the subway station to get everywhere in minutes.
Unique place, it felt like staying at home not at a hotel!
Although not too far out as easy subway access, the area wasnt the best and I wouldnt venture out at night. Not a tourist area so expected.
