Told them my trip was for my birthday and the welcomed me with flowers, chocolates and a signed birthday card from all the staff. LOVED THE GESTURE

The staff was incredibly attentive and genuinely friendly throughout our stay. The location is exceptional—super convenient and makes getting around very easy. The rooms are fully renovated and feel fresh, clean, and modern.
It’s also a smaller hotel, which gives it a more welcoming, cozy, and personal touch compared to bigger properties. Overall, a great experience and I would definitely stay here again
I booked the room for 4 people (my wife and my two children) based on the listing stating the room had two queen-size beds. However, in Room 201, the two beds were not queen-size—they were clearly smaller

This was a fabulous boutique hotel in a perfect location - we stayed five nights and if the weather was warmer we never would have gotten into a car!!
The staff was so accommodating no matter what we asked including an upgrade of our room to the junior suite which was a lovely room!
The steakhouse adjacent to the property is wonderful. It’s pricey but we were able to take advantage of restaurant week and enjoyed a first class dinner at the bar without a reservation. Service was excellent and the food absolutely delicious.
Nothing at all - if we were to nit pick it would have been nice to have coffee in the lobby - we realize the restaurant next door provides coffee but it’s nice to grab a cup early AM.

Beautiful property, exquisitely designed. Rooms are huge for the city standards, lots of closet space. Comfy beds and pillows
The only negative we could find during our 12 day stay, was the lack of a ramp or stroller/wheelchair access. We were traveling with our 14mo baby and had a bit of a struggle every time we left or arrived to the hotel. Trying to carry the stroller up the stairs and manage to open the 2 sets of doors at the same time. Tho I must say every time there was a free concierge or front desk person available they rushed to help us with the stroller!

We booked a larger room with a sofa and two large chairs. This spacious setting was helpful when we had family visit us briefly. The hotel was secure and the location is terrific -- just two blocks from Grand Central Station, two blocks from the New York Public Library. We picked up coffee at one of several local breakfast places.

This is a small but charming hotel. The staff is excellent, the room was gorgeous (alchemy suite) and very clean. The bed was very comfortable and has large marble bathroom.
The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to shopping and restaurants. The area is a little dark and quiet. The hotel is beautiful and updated.

Outstanding. Gorgeous, contemporary decor with a nod to its vintage apothecary/chemist lab roots. The staff was exceptional in every way. Matthew, the manager, was especially welcoming and delightful to chat with, while Lance's sincere friendliness and well wishes really brought a bright start to our day each morning. We had the pleasure of spending 5 days and 4 nights at The Chemist and it was really an oasis in the middle of the city. We booked the Deluxe King room and it was an ample size for my husband and I during the stay. There is a Nespresso machine(original pods, not Venturo) & a mini fridge in the deluxe king rooms. Bottled water was replenished daily and there were snacks and soft drinks upon our arrival. I travel to the city quite often and I may have found my home away from home here!
We were out and about a lot, returning for a quick shower before heading out again to evenings on Broadway or late dinners, so having additional towels would help! :) The staff always brought them immediately when requested, however! :)

Absolutely loved everything. Only stayed for one night but would spend the extra to check out the penthouse and stay longer.
The flashing strobe at night was annoying and not being able to watch Netflix or YouTube on the tv.

Gave some clothes to the laundry service and literally got them back unwashed but ironed. I have never seen that before haha. Complained to the hotel and asked that they have my stuff actually laundered. When I received my clothes back they had brand new spots and discolorings. I have no words for this type of service
