Very Good
The hotel felt more like a slightly faded but still elegant club or someone’s grandparents’ house, but in a quirky good way. The furniture is old fashioned but solid, and the linens, cleanliness, bathrooms and space made it a lovely stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. Feels like a great secret to share with friends.

The location and view from my room, even though the windows were dirty.
The rooms need renovation. Things are worn and musty, and not everything was in working order.

Wonderful
The location was perfect for my daughter and I to celebrate her 25th birthday! This adorable boutique hotel was just steps away from Rockefeller Center, Gershwin Theater and other sites we had in our packed 3-day agenda. We walked to the MoMA, Morgan Library, Plaza, Central Park, Chelsea Market, Little Island, Pier 57, Meat Packing District, Greenwich Village, NoHo, SoHo, The bed was cloud-like and was a perfect respite from our 12.21 mile Saturday journey through 7 neighborhoods on foot! The room was very clean and the shower/tub was very enjoyable. We were able to navigate up to Central Park on foot with great ease from this location and there were plenty of delicious places to eat in a broad price range. I would highly recommend this location. It is quaint, convenient, comfortable, and safe. Recommended stops for bites: The Consulate, Tartinery, Ess-a-Bagel, Jams, Mint Masala, The Bean, The Morgan Library (for tea and tour!)
We failed to notice that the lack of a remote control for the HVAC until we settled for bed on the first night. We called the front desk and were told that the engineer takes them from the room during the winter but he would be in the following morning. We did not sleep well as the room was overly warm. At the desk the following morning we spoke with a young lady who told us that the remote would be available for us later in the day. When we arrived back after 6pm a different desk staff told us that she was misinformed and we would not have access to a remote. His suggestion was to open the window. I did open the window (we were on 7th floor) to relieve the temperature but there was no protection to prevent falling or birds entering the room so I feared that leaving it open for an extended period of time was unsafe. Briefly opening the window brought relief and we slept very comfortably the second night.

Great sized room with a long hall that gave more privacy and made for a very quiet room. Very interesting property with a lot of history! Perfect location next to Rockefeller Center so we could see the Christmas tree anytime we wanted! Staff went above and beyond to hold our luggage and to get us a great table in the bar on a busy night. Also loved the St Patrick's Cathedral view from the solarium balcony

I stayed here November 2024 with my friend and sister. The Hotel was lovely and comfortable and so central to everything. 5th Ave, Rockafeller Centre. Radio City, Times Square. Staff friendly and helpful .

We were upgraded because they said the room we'd reserved was not available. The upgraded room was quiet and had a mini fridge. The basic room would not have had a frig, which I think should be standard. The bed was a king and super comfortable.
I think our original choice, a basic (though always called 'superior" ?) would have had a view of the Cathedral. Our room did not, but we were able to go onto the top floor balcony (our upgraded room was on the top floor) and there was a fantastic view of the Cathedral and Rockefeller Theater lights in the other direction. So all was good!
