The front desk staff is very accommodating and extremely friendly. It was a pleasure staying there. Meg was very friendly. John was very friendly. Matthew was very friendly the entire front desk staff if I can give them 10 more than 10 stars I would.

This place is epic it has everything and then some..even computers to use, free(?) printing, cheap drinks and convenience supplies, pool table, even a Playstation 3(?). Place was very clean and professional and felt very safe. Felt totally ok rooming with others, in fact they seemed very cool. Location wad perfect and convenient too.

Very Good
Well run, if a bit industrial hostel. Has good amount of lounge and dining area furniture/ facilities.
Beds comfortable. Staff very helpful with NYC questions. Pretty close to several subway stops
It’s across the street from major public housing projects on one side and hard core industrial / commercial businesses around it, so not super cozy location.

Very Good
A bedroom of only three people! That's unheard-of in hostels, and so nice! I don't know when is the last time I've stayed in an actual bed, rather than a bunkbed, at a hostel. The room was large and spacious, with a clean en suite bathroom with toasty water in the shower. It was a very comfortable set-up, with personal lockers and nightside tables with additional storage. The whole hostel felt large and spacious. (Note to travelers: this is why you stay in Brooklyn rather than Manhattan! Also... Brooklyn is awesome.)
Unlocked outside door (just open 24/7), which felt weird to me, especially since the reception staff area was not directly looking at the door. General vibe of dinginess, with old, dated furniture and austere basement kitchen. I asked for a second blanket because I was cold and it was absolutely coated in (human) hair; not sure if it was dirty or if it's just the kind of fabric that won't be able to be de-haired in the washing machine, but either way, gross.

Wonderful
The beds were comfortable and solid and so were the blankets. The private bathroom in each room (shared between the people in the room) really made the stay calm and peaceful. The free coffee was nice.
The basement and first floors smelled kind of like a YMCA. The kitchen was not well stocked with utensils and basically every drawer you opened was full of plastic knives for some reason?

Very affordable and good location
There wasn’t even curtains for each bed it was just 3 beds in a room and that made me super uncomfortable as a young woman having to sleep in a room with two older men. And there was no breakfast and no soap or anything for the shower. You have to pay for it in a vending machine. Also beds were uncomfortable.
