Nothing at all. The room key provided was to a dark and musty room. There were stains on the seat of the chair in the room as well as the tub in the bathroom. It was on the first floor and the door to the room did not automatically close. I immediately went out to the front desk to get another room possibly on a higher floor. I did not feel safe at all. I let the desk clerk know right away about my safety concern. I was told no other rooms were available and the room key for a room directly accross the hall was given to the male desk clerk who later identified himself as the manager. I immediately told the person as we entered the room that I did not feel safe in the location of the room and asked if he knew of another hotel location in the area.
He was rude and refused to cancel the reservation for the night as well as the following night and we had literally just checked into the hotel after 11pm that night only moments prior to requesting the cancellation. He actually told us that we stayed in the room too long to cancel the transaction. Which is absolutely absurd since we actually waited in line for checkin longer than it took us to walk into and turn around and walk out of both first and second room. It was an absolutley horrible experience. We left the hotel and drove and additional 20 minutes to the nearest hotel for the night in a clean Hilton Highrise hotel.
The young lady who checked us in when we arrived was very very pleasant. But she was no longer at the desk when we returned with the key to cancel the stay. Instead, the creepy clerk who appeared in the hall as we proceeded to the 1st room and returned to the front desk after we declined the 2nd room remained to tell us that we could not cancel our reservation on my credit card.
Unfortunately this lends credence to that fact that this may not be an uncommon reaction to guests who have been deceived by the photos online versus the actual available rooms.
