Wonderful
Glen was an excellent host, who was very informative and accommodating. The house was beautiful with lovely vintage decorations connecting to the Louisiana history. We stayed in the Garden Suite and it was lovely, with plenty of room & storage. Breakfast was great, Glen's dishes were always tasty and started the day well. With extras of cereal, coffee and some cakes available. Glen also had waters available and the bathroom shower was very nice.
There was no external lock to our room, which was okay as no one else was staying at the time, but good to have reassuring of personal belongings being safe. You can "lock" from inside the room using the hook and eye latch.

Very Good
The house was beautiful, and Glenn was a nice host, who made tasty breakfast and always had an interesting story to tell. There was a wide variety of free drinks available, including tea, coffee and soft drinks.
My main meh-point was, that the room did not have a lock. There is a safe for valuables, nothing bad happened, and the other guests were super friendly, but it’s a recipe for theft at some point in the future. In the sense of “better safe than sorry” it would be great to have that changed. Same for the front door, which has to be locked manually when someone leaves, and someone will probably forget that at some point in time.
There was a fridge with complementary drinks, which was very nice, but we drank like 15 small bottles of water. From an environmental perspective we would have preferred a refilling station.
Last but not least the bus was only okayish in its reliability and came only every 30 minutes. Er ended up walking the distance to the French quarter several times. Nothing Glenn can do about this, but something to be aware of.

The breakfasts are top of the drawer class. Snacks, water and sodas were always in the chiller.
The size of the television set.

Wonderful
We had a wonderful stay. The Garden Room on the top floor had a great sitting patio for looking out over the pool and part of the city. The bed was sturdy and comfortable with great pillows. The double shower was huge and it is always nice to have a bidet in the bathroom. Glen was an excellent host and accommodated us as vegetarians with great meals every morning for us to get started. There was a convenient corner store across the street and a little coffee/snowcone stand just a block away. We also enjoyed the pool and hot tub.
It's a 150 year old house so temper expectations about state of the art facilities. We thought it brought character, others may disagree.

Hands down one of the best experiences the host is a professional chef. Every single breakfast was amazing. We couldn’t have bought it at a restaurant the things that he brought to our table. The space was beautiful. He was very accommodating. Highly recommended will be back.
All of the information and knowledge, the room itself, the breakfast, the host

Beautiful historic house. Glen went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and gave us plenty of helpful recommendations for the area. We also got a free upgrade and enjoyed a lovely private balcony and en-suite bathroom. About half an hour walk to the centre of the French quarter, or a quick bus/taxi ride.

Wonderful
Very traditional & a different experience. The host was incredibly attentive & there was lots of amenities. The pool is a big plus in the hot weather. The rooms were also clean & the bed was comfortable.
The only negative was the area/location, as is felt unsafe to walk back to the accommodation after dark. Also it wasn’t ideal that we couldn’t lock the room door when leaving the room.

Love the pool and hot tub. Glen is really nice and friendly and makes kick-ass breakfast for you. The place is nicely located and you are quick and easy in downtown New Orleans. Theee are love restaurants and bit further up. Just ask Glen.

Its in a charming location thats only several blocks away from the French Quarter. Glen was an excellent host and ahared extensive historical knowledge over exceptional handmade breakfasts.
It was really good. Maybe a few "house" bicycles to borrow.

Disappointing
breakfast was good, but pretty limited vegan options. the house had a historic feel to it.
it was not very clean. bedroom floor was dirty and we saw a cockroach in the bathroom. also, there are no locks on the bedroom doors when you leave, although there is a safe to put valuables and it locks from the inside. it wasnt a terrible trip but I wouldn't stay there again.

I liked absolutely everything. The house is wonderful, interesting and very comfortable. The host of the house is also wonderful. He takes care of the guests in probably the best possible way. It is worth asking him about local attractions and places worth visiting. Delicious breakfasts even for vegetarians - very much appreciated and warmly greeted!

The HH Whitney House was a perfect home base for my first Mardi Gras. Glen made delightful breakfasts, provided excellent recommendations for things to do and see, and overall made me feel totally welcome.

Poor
Not much.
The old house is in an awful location. Its a very dangerous walk to the main attractions. As soon as my brother and I walked in it smelled like cat pee. And the house seemed to be in a disorganized mess. Essentially there's no security for your belongings. And no proper lock on the room doors. The only assurance we had was the owner "doing this for 26 years". There is a safe in the room but that wasn't enough for me. The walk through and history given to us about the house was incredibly quick and vague. The owner was in a way rude to me and talked over me, called me by a different name. But for some reason he was more respectful of my brother, even though I'm the one that paid. I paid for us to stay in the larger room with the balcony, and that's the only way to get your own private bathroom in the house. There's no good view due to the location and the entire house you can feel is lop-sided while staying in that room. The small snack bar is available to all rooms and it was rarely replenished with a sufficient amount of coffee. The owner made a small breakfast for us but there's no organized system to it. The other bed and breakfasts I've stayed in have a slip you fill out and have a set time for each room. And the house needs to be updated severely. The owner I believe should take care to higher-out and have a team to help run the place sufficiently.
