Dear Management Team,
I am writing to share my feedback regarding my recent stay. While I was highly impressed with the overall cleanliness of the room and the exceptional friendliness of the bellmen and door staff, I experienced significant frustration due to inconsistent and insufficient guidance regarding the parking system.
The Issues Encountered:
Lack of Initial Guidance: On my first day, I followed instructions to park at 111 E Wacker (Illinois Center). When I incurred a $37 fee and sought assistance at the front desk, the staff simply stated that since a ticket was already issued, nothing could be done.
Unclear QR Code Process: Later, when I asked for further instructions, I was handed a QR code without any explanation that I needed to register and pay via a specific website. This lack of information led to an additional $15 charge. When I raised this issue, the staff member offered only repetitive, principled excuses rather than a solution.
Timing Discrepancy: On my third attempt, I entered the garage at 10:18 PM, but my pre-paid pass was valid starting from 10:30 PM. A simple warning about this timing would have prevented yet another error. Ironically, the parking office staff was much more helpful than the hotel staff in resolving how to use the QR code to avoid extra costs.
Suggestions for Improvement:
Staff Training: Front desk personnel must be fully knowledgeable about the parking system’s mechanics to provide accurate information.
Proactive Assistance: Staff should guide guests through the QR code payment process to ensure it is completed correctly, preventing unnecessary charges and wasted time.
As a foreign visitor, I found the lack of clear communication very disappointing. It wasn't just about the money, but the significant amount of time wasted due to inaccurate guidance. I hope these points are addressed to improve the experience for future guests.

Location was perfect
some of the Reno was done a little cheap. Like the doors, windows and bothroom trim. The elevator was horrendous.

Location was great, staff was amazing. From the moment I arrived, everyone was so nice and helpful. The room was very clean and spacious. I had the best view of the city and river. I enjoyed my trip and I will definitely be returning and staying at the Royal Sonesta Downtown again. Highly recommend!

We ate in bar the night of arrival and ordered Gluten Free options but I was sick later that night so I wouldn’t recommend food as gluten free
No cross contamination needs to have 100% gluten free if stated on menu
Very difficult to get a taxi outside hotel
