We liked the location, very convenient for exploring the area around Union Square, Chinatown,... and other parts of downtown San Francisco.
Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this place. We have had to switch rooms three times! In the first room, there was playing music that was so loud that things in the room started to vibrate with the music. The staff was helpful in giving us a different, larger room, which we appreciated. It was basic, but OK. However, the next day, when we came back in the hotel room in the evening, there was a strong cigarette smoke hanging in the room, with ashes on and in the toilet! We are not smokers, had closed all windows and had hung the sign saying we did not want room service! We found this truly shocking and uncomfortable! They gave us a new room, but one that was right next to a machine room that made a lot of noise. So we had to ask for yet another room for our final night. After our stay, we complained about this situation and asked for a partial reimbursement and they just ignored us for over a week. We still haven't heard from them... Aside from this, the rooms are very basic, but I guess that is what you get in a lower budget accommodation. The breakfast was not good, very minimal and unhealthy.

Rooms decent size, bed very comfortable. Very clean. Friendly staff. Kettle in room large shower.
Although it was good to have a breakfast, the breakfast was very basic and in a small room without windows. Ice machine was not working.

Super friendly staff! They are always kind, polite, and ready to help you with any question! The deposit of $100 was returned on time. The room and bath were clean. The conditioner had both warm and cold modes, and it helped to keep the room warm.
Breakfasts are all the same every day: cereal, buns, toasts, yoghurt, apples, tea, not tasty coffee. Please, guys, do something about it, and the stay will be more pleasant, really)
Upper floor and back yard didn’t save from street sounds at night.
The area is surrounded by many homeless people. They are pretty harmless, just know about it. For me it was just unusual to see so many of them.

Friendly staff. Breakfast included. It was affordable. Bed comfy. Bathroom clean. USB sockets. Fridge in room. Water and ice available on 5th floor.
It’s in Tenderloin. Eyes down, walk with purpose. Turn right out of hotel and then walk past the Hilton and then it’s all OK.

Very unfriendly and not helpful staff. Made me feel like i was an inconvience. Was charged a smoking fee as well as lost deposit. (I dont smoke)water wqs shut off for a good portion of my stay. No compensation for that either
