thank you! We really enjoyed our stay. We particularly liked the breakfast, as well as having access to water/coffee/ tea throughout the day. The room was clean, bed was comfy, bathroom clean and stocked with necessities such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash as well as q-tips the cotton balls. Overall excellent. I would recommend

The staff was very friendly and we were more than welcome, and the location was good.
The smell was very disgusting and horrible, like in a nursing home. The bed was very old and creaky, along with the floor. The heating was not very effective and the walls are so thin that you can hear everything from the neighbor. The breakfast is very poor.

Pleasant
location and breaksfast were fine. The second room we had was charming with fire place, and much less noisy than the first one. So it seems it is hit or miss.
The first room we were put into was extremely small (too small for two people really) and noisy (close to the road and the elevator).

If you are truly interested in an older style hotel, this will work well for you. Mattress was comfy (not memory foam, thank goodness), room had an armoire for clothes, and the corner cozy queen room had a (small) bathtub. Breakfast was weirdly bad, despite good options on paper (oats were gluey, "pastries" were just mid croissants and muffins); coffee was somewhat weak. Wine and cheese were unremarkable, as well, but the service was good.
It is somewhat annoying to go to White Swan for breakfast. Location is good--close to Nob Hill, Chinatown, and Union Square.

The Petite Auberge was a quaint but very nice place for our 40 th anniversary trip. Breakfast was amazing. Fireplace, sitting area, multiple lounging rooms and other Amenities and staff made it special

Disappointing
The french style and decoration was nice, also the fireplace has added romantic value.
The breakfast was nice but lack of variety, the staff that handles the breakfast was really nice.
There was no housekeeping, after we complained there was still no house keeping,
the staff apologized but still no one came to clean the room.
The staff at the desk almost never was in place with a sign that they will come back later.
The floor is made of wood and each other guest that is walking makes terrible noise, that wakes you up at night.
Almost no electricity plugs, and the window view is to a wall.

Location, quaintness, cozy, unique, attentive staff.
Upstairs guests could be heard walking vigorously into the early morning hours (like 1 am). Loud, yelling disputes could be heard from the street in the early morning hours (like 1 am).
Need to offer a better variety of breakfasts over the week with at least one hardy hot option.
