We frequently stay at the sister hotel, White Swan, but we always wanted to try the Petite Auberge so we did it at the last minute for a treat and it was lovely.
Only thing I can think of is a fridge in the room, but we didn't need it for one night. We really had no complaints.

Hot water went out during our stay. We were able to move to an affiliated hotel after one day without hot water. They then charged us extra for the move to new hotel.

Not my first time. Cozy, antique and cute but unfortunately things have changed. No bathrobes as promised in the description and breakfast was all sweets, no protein. They used to serve some sort of cooked eggs like a quiche, now not even some simple hard boiled eggs, which would have been sufficient. Had to spent 20 xtra dls to get some eggs across the street.
Now they make you go outside to a different property for the wine evening and to have breakfast which is a few feet away but It was a cold morning for me and I wasn’t ready to get out to the street and walk in the cold, I’m glad it wasn’t raining… same price as Marriott Marquis and Intercontinental that night but we chose this hotel as we remembered it being a good experience in a quaint hotel but we will try other hotels in the future.

I will always emphasize that a hotel offers free breakfast. Since I was only in SFO for a short time, I was only able to enjoy breakfast for two days, but believe me I enjoyed it. It was varied and very appetizing. Oh, and I would especially like to thank Francisco for helping me with a special request I made for my breakfast on the last day, when I had to leave very early in the morning.
On other points, the staff is very friendly and several speak Spanish and English. The location seems fine to me, convenient for walking to places of tourist interest. And the building, in general, is nice, a bit old, but comfortable and true to the French style in which it is described. If I were to return to San Francisco, I might stay here again, but this time I would be prepared for what I describe below.
For me it was no problem to have to leave the building and walk a few meters to have breakfast at the “sister” hotel located next door. But if I think about days with rainy weather, cold or other conditions, such as tiredness, traveling with children or elderly people, this displacement can be problematic.
Also, as I said, the building is comfortable but a bit old. The floor is wooden and at night you could hear the creaking of the upper floors quite loudly.

Very quaint and bohemian. Definitely worth the value. Will stay again. Perks are coffee/hot chocolate 24/7. Happy hour w free wine n cheese and decent breakfast. Good neighborhood no people hanging around on the street.
Not a big deal to me but they share amenities with sister hotel next door lots of back and forth for breakfast/happy hour/front desk depending upon time

Petite Auberge was a delight.. Perfectly located in lower Nob Hill, a charming neighborhood,and centrally located for easy access to sightseeing.
The Inn is charming, the continental breakfast, an easy start to a day, wine and cheese in the afternoon. The beds were supercomfortable, the
lInens luxurious. The staff could not have been more helpful.
It's definitely a place to return for another round of fabulous San Francisco.

The location was very good and the room was big with a comfortable bed.
For the price point we were expecting a better breakfast. Though there were some cereal, bread and pastry options (mainly carbs), the breakfast was lacking a bit of protein (eggs, ham, cheese).

The only likable thing was the location and the gentleman at the reception was very friendly.
- No hot water in the bathroom for my last day of stay. The person at the reception said they don't know when it will be fixed.
- Really thin walls, I could hear the alarms going off in other rooms every morning.
- Bed was very squeaky.
- Thin ceilings, I could head people walking.

Wonderful
Our room was carefully we’ll furnished and decorated, however not being over done. There was sufficient space for our bags and other belongings, the room was spacious.
Maybe the window dressings, that is, being able to pull up/aside the dressing in order to have a clear view, and full sunlight into the room. It was not a major concern.
