Definitely an older hotel on the exterior, but the rooms were amazing and the location fantastic.
Just a little wrinkle with the check-in woman who seemed to be preoccupied. Was not a big deal, but she could have been a bit more congenial.

Inexpensive and central to areas I wanted to see
Extremely thin blankets and covers for a hotel in such a cold part of SF. Fortunately the room has a heater, but I've never needed to use a heater in a hotel room in any climate before.

Near the beach, zoo, restaurants, shopping, etc. Free parking. Safe neighborhood.
Incredibly rude staff when I checked in. Buzzed the lobby several times and finally called the hotel phone number. The man who answered angrily told me next time to come before 10pm. Nowhere does it say to do that via this website. No mention anywhere.

We have stayed in this hotel because its close to SFSU, where my daughter is a freshmen.
Property is clean, there w a few problems w the facilities such as some of the toilets do not flush properly. But, rooms are clean!

Clean and safe feeling.
Noise level a little high but I think maybe it was just due to the condition of the building. Lots of people commented that the staff was rude. They werent overly friendly but I didnt feel they were rude.

The location is in a quiet part of the outer Sunset District. I was without automobile so I was dependent on Muni buses. Since last I was here in 3/2020 the L-streetcar to downtown has become the L-bus going only to West Portal. But I managed fine.
I'm not a demanding traveler so there wasn't much I could be dissatisfied with
