The staff were very friendly and helpful - they were the best part of our stay next to the location.
The room and common areas were rather shabby and worn for this price point - chipped paint, old furnishings/decor, tired bathrooms. The whole place needs to be freshened up. The lobby was particularly disappointing - electric fireplace and old lumpy chairs. The back area of the lobby wasn't decorated at all.

The location was decent and the staff were better than average.
The hotel desperately needs renovation - everything feels outdated. Our bathroom sink had no cold water, and the mattress was weird with stiff edges but sank in the middle. It was extremely loud in the mornings with no soundproofing. The room was bare bones - no robes, kettle, dental kit, or even a free bottle of water. You have to order everything through instant service, which is free but really bothersome. Despite having breakfast included, they still charged gratuity fees at checkout. Even the elevator doors were squeaking. For what we paid, it was really disappointing.

Nice hotel with a lot of history in SF. Pretty view at the top of the hill. Hotel does feel a bit tired and past its golden years, but can still be appreciated. Staff were kind and the bed was comfortable.
At the top of a huge hill so not really walkable, but that's SF for ya!
