Visually appealing.
Our stay was unfortunately disappointing from the moment we arrived. The valet situation was chaotic, and neither the valet staff nor the front desk were able to assist us, forcing us to leave and return later after a previously planned dinner.
The room itself had several issues. Storage was very limited—the closet was too small and there were no drawers aside from those in the desk. The toilet paper holder was broken, and the comforter had markings that made it appear as though it had been in storage. The open shower design caused water to spread throughout the bathroom, leaving surfaces constantly wet.
Service was inconsistent overall; the only time we experienced helpful staff was during checkout. This stay was especially important to us as we were there for our wedding, which made the experience even more disappointing.

Beautiful old hotel built in the 1920’s. Beautiful lobby and welcoming staff. Very clean. Nice touches in the room such as a coffee maker and hand steamer for clothes. Lovely thick towels. We were in King room 409. It was basic but clean.
The bathroom is tiny. The main issue was the noise outside at night. Sirens, car alarms. I think the issue is the window is jammed ever so slightly open, so all the noise filtered straight in. Ask for an interior room. I think it might help.

A stunning refresh of a historical property, the Beacon Grand has all of the appointments you’d expect of a modern new hotel but with all of the grandeur of a different time and place. It’s both incredibly warm and inviting while feeling upscale and chic. It’s walking distance to all of the important sites and sounds of Union Square, but nicely situated to efficiently get to anyplace you might want to go in San Francisco proper. The Post Room is a great place to have a solo working breakfast, or host a group cocktail hour for work colleagues. The rooms are well appointed, with great blackout shades and Chromecast on the TVs.
The internet was intermittent during my stay, which made it very challenging to do work or unwind with a good Netflix binge after total mental overload work day.

The location was excellent - only a few minutes walk to Union Square and a bunch of restaurants! The TV had an excellent range of channels and the room was big enough for two guests without feeling cramped. Water pressure from shower head was great.
When we arrived at the hotel they didn’t have our booking on their computer system - it seems they didn’t ‘accept’ our booking from Booking.Com and it took a long time for the admin side of this to be completed. They also initially overcharged the price of the booking - compared to the price I had secured on Booking.Com (note this was amended after I had raised the concern).
The renovation of the bathroom was not executed professionally - marks, cracks and bumps all over the walls - it appears to be a quick touch-up job. The design of the shower is also terrible as it allows so much water out of the shower through the hole in the glass pane and the end of the shower (ending up with wet floors). There is also no fan in the bathroom which means you need to shower with the door open if you don’t want the mirror to fog up. The pillows were also uncomfortable.
