Very Good
Great location on a hill with scenic view on the Bay and Golden Gate Bridge. Big property with several public areas and well equipped kitchen. Fast and stable WiFi
Dormitory rooms small and somehow crowded, beds not so comfortable

Loved the location, very clean bathrooms, fun staff.
My room only had one outlet by one bed. So it was chaotic juggling everyone charging. Individual charging ports would be great.

I liked that the facility had a huge kitchen and multiple sitting rooms. The bed and pillows were very comfortable.
Our room was right next to the laundry room and theater room and it was echoing throughout the night. I wish there was a breakfast and dinner option.

The location is phenomenal! I almost missed it the first time because I couldn't believe it. The hostel sits right atop historic Fort Mason hill, with grand views of the city, Fort Mason Park, Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf, and of course the Golden Gate Bridge. It was the perfect jumping-off point for me to explore the city and hit everything I wanted over the course of a few days. Quiet, peaceful, and surrounded by lush nature such as the Black Point Gardens on the east side of the hill. I frequently saw hummingbirds and heard owls hooting at night.
The building is charming with warm, shared spaces. Fast free WiFi, free coffee and tea, drinking water, helpful maps of the city and restaurant suggestions. The staff is friendly, and the cleaning crew works hard daily to keep everything clean. The rooms have ample outlets and storage, and the front desk sells locks if needed. You get a keycard upon arrival that lets you in the building and your room. They don't do breakfast, but they do have a little snack shop by the front desk, and a large kitchen for preparing and storing your own food.
Overall an amazing value, and a place I'd love to return to if ever I find myself back in San Francisco.
Sometimes open windows in the bathrooms or other areas would let in a couple mosquitos, but I was never actually bitten.

Fair
the location is beautiful.
the parking situation is inconvenient. I'm glad it is available and free, but the walk at night alone is unnerving. there is no breakfast available. The communal bathroom door didn't lock. The communal showers only had curtains. I unfortunately didn't shower because I didn't feel safe.

I stay here a couple of times a year and it's always lovely. The staff are exceptional and the location is perfect. I stay solo when I come into the city to go the Theater in San Francisco, or other events..The kitchen is wonderful with a major grocery store right next door and public transportation is great around the city. I always feel safe coming back to the Hostel at night from the Bus Stop when my show gets out late and It's really convenient for me to take the train to and from the Hostel home without worrying about parking, although they do have free parking unlike anywhere else in the city. The staff always makes it a great stay and finds me a comfortable room as an older traveler.. It's really a gem in the city because it's affordable, which allows me to go to a variety of events in San Francisco that can get expensive..And the fellow travelers are interesting to talk to.. It's not a party Hostel, and I have always gotten a good night's sleep. The ages of other visitors range from kids to older travelers like me.. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
Nothing..I always have a great stay.

Wonderful
Great hostel with an amazing location and a beautiful view over San Francisco. The staff were very friendly and always available to help or answer questions.
The facilities are excellent and very affordable, with laundry, postcards and stamps available on site, as well as a mailbox which was very convenient. There is also a water fountain, and coffee and tea are offered in the morning.
We had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back if we have the chance!
Everything was perfect
