I loved the place and how close it was to all the places I wanted to go. It was so nice to see the sunrise and the Golden Gate Bridge; I made my favorite memories there. I also loved that they have a kitchen you can use and also the fact that they have stands where you can put food for free, instead of trashing it, some other people can benefit from it. They offer coffee and tea every day, and the staff was very welcoming and nice.

Great location, good value, staff was friendly. It felt safe to leave car there and free parking!
Noisy in the mornings, to be expected in a hostel. Room was really hot, no AC or ceiling fan. No screen in window.

Wonderful
It is a perfect place to stay if you don't mind to share a dorm. It has got everything complementary like luggage storage, hot showers, coffee, safe parking, Wifi.
The location with views is awesome and probably one of the best in San Francisco.

The history of the fort, the nostalgia of the decor, the location (exceptional views of the bay), the international mix of people, and the security procedures.
Window screens to keep the mosquitos out. Have to leave the window open b/c the radiant heat cooks the room.

Some facilities are not modern. I would like to have a socket with lightning beside the bed. When you leave the room and come back it’s hard to find your bed and climb on it in the dark.

Location was stunning. Free coffee at Cafe Franco. I had left my passport and I'd in my friend's hotel safe (I was going to a wedding) and reception accepted a photocopy of my passport since I was only staying one night. I really appreciated not having to return to the other hotel as time was short. I got a room with single beds. As an older person, I'd prefer not to have to climb to a top bunk!
The café hours could have been a bit longer, say 8-5, with fod available the whole time. And to nitpick, a small bedside light and shelf for a phone/water bottle would have been a nice touch.

The staff was very welcoming, and coffee and tea were provided in the lobby during breakfast. The room was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. There was also a large and convenient kitchen, perfect for cooking and storing food. The guests were also very friendly, and I even had cake provided by a guest. It's very close to the Golden Gate Bridge, Lombard Street, and Fisherman's Wharf, and the price was reasonable, making it a great choice.

This is absolutely the best hostel I have visited thus far and I believe is the first hostel in San Francisco founded in 1981 located at Fort Mason.... Beautiful, majestic scenery; Awesome friendly staff; New & thick mattresses ; Low priced laundry room ; Meticulously clean ; Quiet after hours ; Comfortable and spacious ; Excellent Amenities ( pool table, mini theater , piano , cafe ,and fireplace); Available daily walking tours and good tunes. Much praise and Thanks to all that consistently made this a enjoyable, positive experience!!!

I loved the location, view and interior. Loved the little room with yoga mats.
- The mattresses were horrible (tried two) probably because they are too old. They have a dent in the middle so it caused me back pain.
- The lockers were hard to use because you have to hold the door up with one hand to use it. It wasn’t convenient to use, especially at odd hours.
- no outlets for every bed. One strip in a 6 bedroom and you’re forced to leave your electronics to charge far away/ out of sight.
- bathrooms: all 3 faucets not working properly. You have to hold the faucet with one hand to wash one hand at a time??? What about people with fine motor issues and disabilities?
- shower curtains not wide enough, others can easily see you
