It's a nice hotel at a reasonable price. The bed was comfortable, the room was small but stylish, the blackout shades were amazing and the view was lovely. The bathroom is decent sized with a modern shower. The facility is well kept and clean. Breakfast had a range of options. The staff was friendly. Rooftop access gave some great views especially at night.
As mentioned in other reviews, the area is sadly overrun with street people. Vomit, urine, defecation all within a block or two of the hotel. Watch where you walk. I walked to bars in Folsom at night and sixth street seemed to be the epicenter. I don't think using a different hotel in the area will change that. It's not Hampton's fault but its something to be aware of. There is a MUNI stop just at the corner to jaunt out of it.
I stayed on the 16th floor and the hotel was down to one elevator. Mornings were tough as every guest in the hotel is trying to get to the basement for the complimentary breakfast. Combine that with housekeeping clearly having multiple floors as their big carts take over the elevator also in the morning. People with luggage racks trying to check out added to this to create 10 minute wait times for the elevator and another 5 minutes to go up or down as it stops on almost every floor. It made me not love the guy on the second floor taking the elevator down one. I stayed Thursday til Tuesday and it was down the entire time.
Overall I would stay here again even with those hiccups. The elevator is the only reason I did not give this a 9.

the room was clean. the beds were comfortable. the bathroom exhaust fan was quiet and worked well. the valet was helpful. I was surprised that I didn’t get anything stolen out of the back of my truck.
the junkies and homeless people walking by were unsettling. when I was unloading my vehicle I kept thinking I was going to get mugged. one elevator was broken so the other elevator was very slow and busy. we used the stairs a lot.

The guy who was working the front desk around 12am-1am was very nice
When I arrived they said my reservation wasn’t paid for when on booking I paid in advanced. Gemma had no interest in even attempting on solving the situation and kept saying it’s not their fault and it’s an issue on bookings end when after a call from booking and booking then having to call the hotel it was in fact the hotels issue. Not only that but once I finally got into my room I find out there’s absolutely no WiFi unless you pay for their subscription which I’ve never heard of or ever dealt with when booking a hotel. Parking is also an extra $65 because there’s absolutely no parking anywhere. Safe to say I will NEVER stay at a Hampton or Hilton again.
