Very Poor
The manager’s behavior was completely unacceptable. Shortly after we checked in, I politely mentioned that the room had a very strong air freshener smell and asked whether any other rooms were available. In response, the manager became extremely hostile, yelling at both me and my 4-year-old child and telling us to leave. He also used inappropriate language and was highly unprofessional. We chose to leave immediately and were able to get a refund. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. I would strongly caution others before booking here.

The well-lit parking lot seemed safe given the neighborhood
Not only did the place not have coffee in the morning but we couldn't even find any in the near area within walking distance.

It was cheap. 15min from San Francisco so not too bad. Fit our RV which is why we booked it
Very very run down area, scared to walk to the train station 400m away. The shower was literally as weak as standing in the rain. Bed was hard, smelt a little.

It was around the corner from a great pub called Eli's Mile High Club, which had great live music. Also, easy access to Berkeley. Loved the view of the houses across the street from the motel.

I think it was renovated recently. Everything was clean. The person (owner) at the front desk was kind and helpful, going "above and beyond" to give me a large new can of shaving cream since I'd forgotten mine. The MacArthur BART station is a 10-minute walk away. Great value: $80 including tax for a single room mid-May.
A framed print was loosely hung over the head of the bed. This can be dangerous during an earthquake. It should be anchored to the wall so it can't shake loose.

Staff was very friendly and even placed our friends in the room next door to make it easy to hang out. Easy drive over back to SF so great value for the location. Will definitely stay here again!
The immediate neighborhood is not great.
