Located in the center of Downtown, Per La, Autograph Collection is a hotel inspired by the building in which it’s housed. Originally the Bank of Italy, a historic 12-story building on the corner of Olive and 7th Street, the space is a symbol of inclusion and accomplishment. All rooms feature original artwork from a Paris-based design studio and are dressed in custom-designed furnishings and luxury linens. Many include standalone pedestal bathtubs and separate rooms for wash closets. Rooms also include desks, a fully stocked mini-bar, toiletries, and bathrobes. The hotel is well located, in the heart of the LA city, within walking distance to restaurants and to the Angels Flight, the world's shortest historic funicular. The room and bathroom are renovated beautifully, keeping the old style of the hotel intact. The cafe and breakfast was also wonderful, with very attentive staff.
We had a room on the second floor, which was super sensitive to the endless fire truck alarms and city noises. A recommendation from the staff to pick a higher floor would have been good.

Overall the hotel is chic and cool. It is an older building and has a lot of history - which my wife and I enjoyed learning about. I highly recommend staying here. The beds were comfortable and a lot of amenities. We wanted to use the pool, but didn't have the time to.
There are some things that need serious updating - including, but not limited to the carpets in the hotel. They are old, and musty - and the building does give off a musty vibe. It didn't feel clean in that sense.
