The hotel is located in an area of downtown that makes it easy to explore part of Los Angeles in all directions. There are delicious taco vendors nearby (Tacos La Cuevita!) and you can snag a bus, rideshare, or e-bike/scooter easily. The front desk staff was pleasant. The bed was comfortable. And guests have access to the impressive gym/pool area.
The bathroom conditions did not meet my expectations. It felt like a hospital bathroom in need of upgrades - the ceiling tiles were disheveled in places, there were several chips in the white tiles on the floor, the overhead light flickered sometimes, and there was mineral buildup on the shower head. The main room's lighting is too dark and the windows could use more soundproofing in some capacity. Also, I would not recommend this hotel to families or couples who are easily spooked by the colorful riffraff one is likely to encounter around this part of the city. You will regularly encounter homeless and mentally ill individuals while walking in the vicinity. For security purposes, the hotel makes you buzz the front door at a certain point in the evening. It worked fine as a solo traveler from Chicago.
