The breakfast was OK.
The bed was so creaky we didn't sleep a wink and despite the light being switched off all the bulbs were still illuminated. The room was dated and in need of renovation although it was clean.
The host was exceptionally patronising, and I understand that there may have been historic instances of where someone may have not been able to operate a door, I'm sure the very in depth lesson on turning a key is not needed for all.
Although we didn't wish to partake in the local takeaway scene, it was drilled in, that we would not be able to bring one back due to instances of the fire alarm going off previously, I can only assume from steam, of which there is a kettle with tea and coffee facilities in the room.
We were also given a long lecture, on arrival, about booking through Booking.com and that we had wasted 30 not going directly to the hotel. I assume a lot of business comes from Booking.com and this definitely felt like a "biting the hand that feeds you" argument.
I wouldn't stay again, even if the price was a direct from the hotel offer, and thankful we only stayed one night.

The owner, Andy and Marie were friendly and welcoming. They serve good breakfast too. Location is excellent, just behind the station.

The breakfast was very good and the owner running it was very friendly and very helpful. He took us for a tour in his mini van and the jokes and information about lake district was exceptional.
Our room no1 was very noisy due to main road passing next to it.

The Host was nice, talkative but nice. Breakfast was basic but good, location was amazing, and overall it was a good experience
Seeing other reviews, many bad things were said about the host which I could definitely see as a possibility although we have a good experience. The Host told us since we booked through booking.com he may have already sold our room which would have screwed us over. No takeout in the room was a little excessive.

i liked how cosy this place was and the guy who runs it was very chatty and nice. very homely and breakfast was good! solo travelling can be a bit daunting but im glad this was my first experience! windermere is so beautiful

See above. It seems as if expected to finish breakfast before 9am. I always thought if yo are in dinning room well in time of the end time of the 8-9 am slot it was ok
