Gorgeous setting. Loved the decor and stories behind it. Fantastic breakfast choices that very much reminded me of the best breakfasts in Melbourne cafes which as, arguably, the cafe centre of the world is very high praise. Lovely, lovely hosts and a delight to spot red squirrels from windows.

The hosts were fabulous and accommodating. I had a lovely breakfast with all my dietary requirements met in spades. The room was comfortable, spacious and well furnished. there was also great local information on hand for walks and the journey onwards.
The weather was cold for camping the next night, icy tent in the morning. I think it was colder than normal for the time of year. Nice to remember the toasty bedroom at Lowthwaite from the night before.

Great B&B in a nice setting, breakfasts were good with plenty of choice. There was the option to have pack lunches for your daily activities, which we had one day and it was nice. Service was excellent and nice to watch the birds feeding through the window during breakfast. Jim was also incredibly helpful in recommending local walks, providing maps and suggesting further activities. Rooms were nice and comfortable, maybe a double duvet would have been better as we had two singles pushed together. However, it was still very comfortable with a good variety of drinks in the room too. Location is great with walks from the doorstep, plenty of nice restaurants nearby to try but you will need to drive, which means one person will be on driving duties if you want a drink. 1863 was excellent if you want a special treat and nice meal, amazing food.

Lovely decor comfortable beds great breakfast. We were in the garden room loads of birds and red squirrels feeding. We were mesmerised. Tine is a fantastic cook everything homemade breakfast fantastic and they even gave us homemade muffins to take home. Comfy dressing gowns also provided.
The only downside was the weather but the owners couldn't do anything about that.

Excellent breakfast with lots of options. Location was a bit of a climb to reach, however we expected that this may be the case. We loved our garden room as there was plenty of wildlife right outside our window. It was wonderful to watch the red squirrel on the feeders.
We really couldn't find fault with anything.
