Stanton St John is a beautiful village close to Oxford. The Talkhouse, the only pub in the village, has a great setup with practical rooms on the ground floor off the courtyard, each with their own ensuite bathroom. Very peaceful, flexible, clean, and easy to access from the parking area just across the street. We were able to go into Oxford for a theatrical evening and return home to the peace and quiet of our rooms and then wander round the village in the morning and pick some fruit at Rectory Farm. Very relaxing and pleasant.

The location was peaceful and the bed comfortable.
We never saw any staff. The key box was tricky to open. The bathroom door stuck and was hard to get out of. The pillows were a little flat. We asked for a shower but were never informed that it wasn't walk in.

Fair
Good powerful shower. Comfortable bed.
No food available in the pub that evening. Should have received an email but didn't! Car park messy and pot holes, mess on shoes made real mess of car carpets and car needed washing after. The room was fairly small. Door would not shut from outside without putting key in lock. Chair and stool at end of bed both wobbly and bed squeaky. Nice bedding and comfortable bed though. If you hang clothes on the hanger rack they hand down on the lamp and bedside table. Okay for one night stay but not good value. Disappointing.

Room was lovely, comfortable clean and coffee and biscuits topped up each day very nice touch.
Shower was good and excellent parking.
Best room I've stayed in for a long time would stay again as I'm regularly in the area.
Slightly underwhelmed by the food in the restaurant, the bubble and squeak starter was nice, but the Oxfordshire sausages were not as good as it sounded on the menu.
Never mind will try something else on the menu next time.

Pleasant
Bed was comfy, room was warm and clean with good amount of tea/coffee/biscuits/ water provided (& replenished)
Bathroom was small and slightly shabby.
The room was in an external annexe on the ground floor facing into the pub and didn't feel particularly private or secure (bathroom window was open when I arrived and again when I got back in the evening despite my belongings being in the room/ flimsy lock on door/ no lock on windows).
Walls were thin, so could hear the next door occupants v easily.

Very Good
I stay here two or three times a year usually. I usually never have any complaints as I love the hotel that much.
Great location, great appearance, great staff and great food.
On this occasion the room had cobwebs in the bedroom area and bathroom. The sideboard had coffee stains on and in between the drawers (not fresh). The hotel only had snack food on due to an indoor craft market which took up restaurant area.
I had e-mailed the hotel about this (as I left very early next morning) but I have had no reply. I am disappointed with my stay this time.
