Wonderful
Clean room - Upgraded, lots of room. Friendly desk staff for so late in the evening.
Shower made the whole floor wet, unsure what was included and or extra cost.

Disappointing
The pool and spa area was nice but had mold and felt slippery in the pool.
The shower drain wouldn't clear the water away so had to shower by turning the water on and off continuously. The staff were indifferent when I told them. I asked the staff to change the sheets after my son had an accident on the bed and they did not. The breakfast items were never replenished or very slowly- also one of the juices were fermented because it was so old. The building overall is just old and dirty. No pride in cleaning or even making it presentable. It was a mission just to get to the room- the lift to the room is in a very inconvenient place and I heard multiple guests getting lost to get to their room. Last and certainly not least the aircon in the room did not work and the staff's reaction was that they didn't advertise a/c, when they clearly did.

Wonderful
Electric charging points available.
Good WiFi
Great room
Friendly staff
Even better if help with the bags was offered since my husband is disabled.
Also other hotels offer my husband help with the breakfast buffet when they see he is on crutches.

Poor
Restaurant was delicious
The bed was two twins pushed together. Additionally, the lift was broken down we had to haul all four of our suitcases up the stairs which was terrible after 36+ hours of travel.

Wonderful
Great location for park and ride into Oxford.
Clean and comfortable hotel, second visit this year and didn't disappoint.
Small issue with the original room but the hotel quickly resolved and it didn't impact stay. Despite advising our rooms would be next door this wasn't possible on check in.

Not much, wasn’t what we wanted from our break.
Too big and impersonal. Grounds not as we imagined

Very Good
Welcoming, clean and comfortable. Excellent breakfast. Good gym. Lovely staff.
Dinner food (chicken salad) not so good; room a bit dark, poor lighting; pillows too soft for me.

Good
I unfortunately was in the shower when the power went out. I had just put shampoo in my hair and the lights went out and the water pressure died. So this will forever be my memory of the rather charming hotel. I did the best I could to get the shampoo out and pack so I could take my bag to breakfast. I was afraid I might not be able to get back in my room with electric doors/keys (though I think they are battery on reflection). The main building had a generator so that was fine but the dining area was dark. Their was still food but no coffee. We were without power for about an hour. SO with that said the room and bath were VERY nice. I had a view of the back garden. This was my second stay at the hotel and I was comfortable both times but this second time my room was at least 50% bigger. The BREAKFAST was worth the $20 I paid as it was buffet and lots to choose from even in the dark. I had dinner the first time I was there and it was decent. I had pizza at the bar.
The staff was a bit abrupt both checking in and when I told them about the power outage and how it affected me as a traveler. There was no compensation or refund for inconvenience caused by the power outage. I am not sure the front desk even said sorry but they did relay to me how it affected them. I was not really too empathetic as I am the one paying. Other than that the hotel may be worth another try. Like I said above the food was decent and the room was very comfortable.

Poor
Poorly maintained - broken air conditioning. Poor communication between staff - 3 hours to get room service. Spa area is dirty - pool tiles have a layer of grime on them. Outside areas are not used or staffed, even in exceptionally sunny weather.

Bed Very comfortable. Buffet breakfast pretty good.
Room desperately needed air con. The fan provided made no difference. tried to go to restaurant for dinner at 8pm but was told it was fully booked. Offered the bar, but no tables available. Regarding the bar, I had decide to have a refreshing glass of Aspalls cider after many hours of driving only to find that the bar had run out. I was given the option of some continental fruit cider, which in my opinion is simply a version of alcho-pop. I did not see any other British beer or lager available .

The room was a good size, the bed was very comfortable and the pillows were great! I also really liked the interior courtyard.
We had to leave early and couldn’t enjoy the breakfast. It would have been nice to have coffee available in the lobby ( not instant from the room.

Wonderful
I really don't get the low rating for this hotel as very little we can fault.
We got our room upgraded which was lovely to the superior king but the twin room was standard and still as good, the only difference was a bit more space and the complimentary mini bar.
The hotel felt very clean and despite seeming quite busy it didn't impact our stay. Very comfy beds, we had a great nights sleep too during our stay.
Staff were friendly and super helpful, the guy on reception was lovely and one of the serving staff at breakfast couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome and that nothing was too much trouble.
The location was great for Oxford as it was only ten minutes from a local park and ride. Close to Thame center too which was great for food.
Breakfast had a great buffet selection and didnt disappoint.
The pool was good too, a bit small but fine as a family with a nice time slot to let children use the facilities for a couple of hours. It was busy in the sauna most of the time so maybe frustrating if visiting for a spa trip but as a family it didn't matter and was nice to have the option of the pool.
Big plus was how dog friendly the hotel was except for during breakfast.
Only negatives was the fact the hotel was a bit like a maze if you are in a room on the other side of the hotel but they had signage and you soon got used to navigating the corridors. The lift was a bit strange to use to get to the right floor but it didn't matter enough to really mark the hotel down.
My only criticism was the dining experience with a dog, it's fine if we can't eat in the main area that wasn't the issue the problem was the alternate seating options in the bar. The tables were either too high in relation to the seat or too low so would have to sit hunched over your food.
Only one table was suitable but there was a long light in the.middle making it a barrier across the table.
If more diners were there with dogs it would have meant an even more uncomfortable dining experience.
It would be good if the hotel considered the seating options for those with dogs. As it felt you were more segregated as you didn't offer a suitable option. It was a shame as the hotel was lovely and felt very dog friendly until it came to breakfast. Plus it meant we didn't get our table cleared.as we were a little forgotten about out in the bar area.
