Loved the quirky decor and themes, the staff were wonderful, the check in was awesome. Parking was fantastic.food was excellent. ,
There was a function on and despite various calls prior asking if I knew about it, I was never given the details regarding my stay.. after a 3h drive and not being able to use the secret garden or outside area, it was a real shame that the music was heard in our room after we went to bed as needed a 4am alarm for the F1 British Grand Prix. Better communication would have been appreciated.. could have benefitted from USB ports to charge things.

So quirky and different from anywhere I have stayed before.
The shower needs an enclosure, as the bathroom gets soaked when using it. The kettle you can’t plug in where it’s situated as the lead doesn’t reach the plug socket, we had to stand it on the floor at a different plug socket, which we felt was dangerous.

Excellent Staff. Brilliant welcome and goodbye from Sophie, who is a real asset for this place. Lovely location and fun elements, such as the big red bus for check in, and the gardens. Great staff in the Thai restaurant and good food. Lovely countryside location.
My room (16) smelled badly of damp. The bathtub, which fills from the ceiling, only had very very hot water and couldn't be adjusted, so it made taking a bath not possible, unless you wait several hours for it to cool down. The bath was part of the reason I booked the room. The damp is also probably happening because the ceiling is covered with velvet panels, which get soaked every time the bath water comes out of the ceiling. Also it was very dark in my room.

No door on the toilet. The bedroom and bathroom were one big room. We’ve been together 30 years but there’s certain things I want to do privately! Taking it in turns to vacate the room is a pain! There was a Private event taking place so most of the garden was closed along with one of the restaurants, we wasn’t informed which I think was a poor choice. It would have been a nicer stay to have full access to all the facilities. Shame as it spooked our visit and at that price you want to get the full experience.

Cleanliness bed was dirty had stains on All round the diamonds of the bed was disgusting Food wasn’t up to standard I had the lamb expecting it to be hot it’s was cold Desert was fine breakfast was lovely but the main courses and starter wasn’t worth the money Bath plug kept popping up so kept loosing water Whole place covered in mosquitos I have loads of bites No light in room only little lamp type things that hides the fact how dirty the room is maybe if you put a light in there the cleaners would be able to clean properly Very small room we had the decant room and it just wasn’t As expected I seen it on social media and it looked amazing Yes the hotel is very creatively decorated but I thought it had a pool to be then told Beaconsfield is the one with the pool on arrival

The hotel is more of an experience than somewhere I would want to revisit. If you go open minded and know that you are in for a one-off bizarre hotel experience, you will love it! The rooms are excessively lavish (ok if you like mirrored ceilings!!), the description of Lawrence Llwellyn Bowen having decorated the rooms is a good one. The staff were really lovely and the restaurant was superb.
Room felt really oppressive, you couldn't open any windows and the open plan bathroom (including toilet in the middle of the room) was too much for me!! Airconditioning isn't great. Also hunt for the plugs which are located under the eaves and difficult to access (unless you are a contortionist).

Lovely room, food is phenomenal and the staff are fantastic.
Plugs in the decadent room near the dressing table do not work in that a standard UK plug won't fit. Wife had to unplug the kettle in the other endnof the room to plug in her hair straighteners. Skip outside bedroom window changed at 7:30 in the morning

Beautiful hotel very quirky. The decor is outstanding this is the second time ive stayed and the decor in the two rooms have been so different loved them.
The WIFI didnt extend to the room i wa staying in. so was unable to work at my computer with their WIFI. Booked through booking.com and didnt see I had to leave a £150 deposit for the rooms and then took several days to return back to my bank.
