Very Good
Location, setting by the river, food and drink on site, the staff. Friendly and helpful. Walking distance to other great restaurants, pubs, and coffee shops, but more relaxed setting than the city centre.
The bathrooms have been nicely refurbished, but the rooms themselves could be freshened up a bit. We stayed in a family room on one occasion and I stayed in a single room in both were quite adequate in terms of facilities and comfort. Beds were comfortable.

Fair
Just required a room for a single night and this met our requirements and was good value for money. The carvery meal in the hotel was good Our room was clean with a nice bathroom
Hotel looked a little jaded and dark decoration wise but as said it was one night stay only

Pleasant
Helpful, pleasant staff, especially the cleaner who looked after our room
The food was not good. I didn't bother to go to breakfast.
Our last night coincided with the arrival of Storm Amy. As we live near the Scottish border, we decided that we should leave a day early. The reception was very understanding and contacted Head Office, who generously offered to reimburse 1 night's payment. Reception said it had all gone though and would be paid into our bank. Nothing arrived in the first week. We phoned the hotel and they said they'd look into it. We have heard nothing since. We can't contact them directly. Could Booking.com help? please.
