Disappointing
Room was basic but comfortable - heating was on which was nice - parking is easy and free. location is convenient
staff were friendly and helpful
other guest were loud and disruptive in the bar area
breakfast was poor - arrived at 7am and there were no bananas when I asked if there were any more there were not
toaster didn't work and coffee machine wasn't working. the plates were dirty
I've stayed at this hotel many times and this hasn't been my experience before

It was a good location and easy to get to.
Booking in was straightforward.The staff we're hard working but not enough of them.
We ordered meals but due to a wedding and lack of staff we waited over an hour and when it came it was cold. Having to wait 30 minutes at the bar due to lack of staff is not good enough.

Excellent location. Large room with good size bed. Nice bathroom. All very clean.
There was a bit of a problem when checking in, in that they gave us a room which was already being used. Once sorted everything was fine.

Very poor customer service:
at check-in the receptionist was perfunctory in her approach: no personality or customer greeting/ engagement,
long waits at the bar due to low / slow staffing and their seeming lack of familiarity.
The restaurant was inadequately staffed, with service bordering on rudeness.
One was asked to pay for each individual course as it was ordered. Of two main courses ordered together: one arrived 20 mins later than the other, and then only after prompting.
There was a total absence of of the usual waiter interation (e.g. how is your meal ?) and one got the impression of disorganisation.
I suggest that this hotel has deteriorated since I last stayed 9 months ago, and the experience was far worse than at a different Holiday Inn that I stayed in 6 days ago.

The bed was comfortable, the shower was a dream and the food was nice. The location was ideal as it was just off the motorway. Could tell some of the staff enjoyed seeing people staying there and wanted to make sure they were happy and comfortable. The room was clean and tidy. I asked for hot chocolate via a note to the cleaning staff and was happy to see they obliged and left me some.
Not all the staff appeared very welcoming, I asked a question about when food was served until and (I presume it was a manager) a manager who happened to be stood in the reception huffed, looked at his watch and replied with a time.
The gent on the bar / restaurant was alone and seemed to be trying to do 3 jobs at once, I felt for him as there were a few people waiting for food or ordering food and drinks.

Worst Holiday Inn without a doubt
The first room we were checked into (21) was filthy.The mattress was worn out and you could feel the springs digging into your back
I complained the next morning was moved to room 24 which was cleaner and the bed was ok but the hotel is run down,with musty carpets and cracks in walls and sealant peeling off in the bathroom
In general it wasn’t very well maintained and without a doubt the worst Holiday Inn I have ever stayed in

WiFi signal has been poor during previous stays, this time it stopped working altogether. Sign posting to Hotel is poor given the road works and post code inaccurate. The message I received about access to hotel was out of date.
A hotel of this price should have a backup WiFi system.

Air conditioning was in fault. No heating cold room. Reception had to bring me a portable heater to use. Phoned room service at 9pm kept phoning till 9.30pm no answer. Had to go to order food at the bar with a 20 mins wait and had to go back and collect it. Didn't get a sorry or an offer of complimentary breakfast or anything for all the wrongs. Disappointed.
