The Midland is an award-winning, 4-star luxury hotel with a spa in Manchester city center. It offers stylish, air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi. Providing a fine dining experience, Adam Reid at The French has won 4 AA Rosettes. The bespoke menus offer creative dishes, which are freshly prepared using locally sourced produce where possible. Lounge & Champagne bar offers an extensive drinks menu with exciting cocktails, fine wines and local beers. Open seven days a week, guests can also enjoy a selection of light meals from our breakfast, lunch and evening menu. Traditional afternoon tea is available in the Tea Room at The Midland. Hotel guests can make use of The Rena Spa At The Midland's relaxation pool and thermal areas, for an extra charge. The Rena spa includes the aromatherapy steam room, beautiful Alder-Wood sauna and refreshing Arctic rain shower. As a hotel resident, you can book 1-hours complimentary use of our award-winning Rena Spa (subject to availability). A booking is required to access the spa, which can be made by dialing extension 25 or visiting the spa on the lower ground floor. The Midland is less than 1312 feet from Bridgewater Hall, the Palace Theater and Manchester Central Exhibition and Conference Center. The city's shops and bars are a 10-minute walk away. Due to essential Maintenance works from the 1st December for approximately 5 - 7 days, there will be no thermal access (relaxation pool jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, experience shower) to all of our Spa facilities. Spa treatments (for purchased packages) and gym access will be operating as normal.

The staff on security and in the bar were lovely. However, the front of staff manageress was very rude. There was a clear miscommunication of addressing an issue over the spa and accessibility needs. When I tried to communicate this to her she was rude and argumentative. What happened to customer respect? A lot of the staff had left also because of the way they were treated by management. I won’t be staying there again. Further training needs implementation and better communication between front desk staff.
A light switch broke as I entered and I requested some help but none came.

Room.
Breakfast. I am coeliac and have used the Midland several times over the years. They do not cater for GF requirements adequately, the sausage isn't GF neither is the black Pudding when on offer. GF sausages are so commonplace nowadays lots of hotels do offer them it is surprising that the Midland doesn't. Similarly the food available in the bar area has limited choice for GF. We have used the Midland over the years on many occasions. We even had our daughter' wedding in the Midland but we are disappointed that they don't provide sufficient GF options.

Beautiful property, very grand and beautiful reception. Room was as clean as it can be ( that the dated decor will allow). Bed was comfortable and the toiletries were of good quality. Staff were friendly and good atmosphere in the bar.
Room was very dated and walls were scuffed. Could hear floorboards in room above is squeaking. TV was old and had to use my own device to get anything worthwhile on there - had to ask for assistance with this and took the maintenance over an hour to come. Room was cold - Air conditioning panel broke off the wall. Cool air when on hot setting. Had to have a free standing cheap heater which you wouldn’t expect from a high rated hotel. Shower was either scolding hot or freezing cold, no in between. Towel was dirty. Spa is not as good as the pictures make out, sauna and jacuzzi were broken whilst I was using my 1hr allowance. Nothing was offered to rectify this. Robes are only offered to people who have treatments which seemed very stingy. Breakfast overpriced for a buffet - no non-dairy milk available and I don’t like fry ups so I paid £23 for some toast and unseasoned mushrooms.

Excellent room. Excellent staff.
Downstairs in the bar lounge area there was a lack of seating, tables were not cleaned to allow others to take them. They closed off one area to prevent it being used and when a few tried to take the seats they moved them out. We had a meal in the restaurant. We were given an unpriced menu with 3 starters 3 mains and 3 sweet and told that was the offer for the night. We probably should have walked at that stage. However we took our seats. Ordered starters and mains and 2 drinks (£10 for a 440ml tin of craft beer

It was our anniversary and they gifted us a bottle of champagne which was lovely.
We ordered cold drinks to the room, the chap came and they were warm. We asked for ice and he didn’t return. We had to call room service again to get ice to make our drinks cold.

Already seen this hotel and only every visited for a brief business meeting and wanted somewhere special to stay for Christmas and I wasn't disappointed! What a great place and a really good team to help us check-in and look after our luggage - I'll definitely be back.

Most of the staff were very pleasant and they helped take our bags in to the room for us. They also helped when I needed to retrieve an item from the room after check out.
Service on arrival was lacking as we expected a complimentary champagne on arrival but were not directed to it and it seemed like an afterthought.

Loved the hotel lobby and bar. Cocktails were great! Bed comfy & room was lovely and spacious. Fab location and staff were all lovely!
Lighting in the rooms not brilliant for getting ready. Bathroom extremely dated and lighting not great in there either for doing make up.

Perfect location, hotel itself and the room was lovely and clean.
Unfortunately we didn’t get to use the spa facilities due to the pre-booking procedure. I rang up the hotel in advance to book pool access as advised by email (i’ve never had to pre book just to use the pool at a hotel before) and was told you have to book this once checked in. Therefore I did however, was then told it was already fully booked until 1pm the next day (when check out is at 11am). Disappointed paying £200 + just for a room and not being able to use the facilities, because of this reason alone I would not chose to stay at this hotel again.
