Breakfast - appalling.
badly trained staff - exception- one female manager.
Food on floor around tables- ignored request to clean up
Buffet - poor- hard pushed to give one star.
Needed to pay extra for a tomato juice-declined!
First time ever have had to stir my coffee with a dessert spoon as no teaspoons!!!!
Could go on….many complaints from other guests.
Complained fully at checkout - feedback on action taken would be welcome.

We stayed the week as my birthday over the Easter weekend. Superb hotel as set away from the main road with a convenient footbridge in to town. Mattress and topper made for a great nights sleep.
Fab toiletries and complimentary hot drinks with a local Manchester tea brand included too!

Breakfast quality was nice (see some down sides)
Check in: I specifically booked 2 suites (a big special occasion for us) on higher floors to not be disturbed by the events noise and ensure a sound night (previous experiences had made me aware, 2nd and 3rd are a no go when events are on unless you are going to be out late yourself). Despite being guaranteed this was the case more than once, as late as 2 days before the booking, we was then given different floors and next to the event noise. I was then left to have uncomfortable conversations that shouldn't have been necessary with the manager. He did provide an upgrade (for the room that had been moved to a lower floor) which was nice gesture However, despite saying it would be a 30 min wait we were left 70 minutes waiting for the room and only after chasing this.
Cleanliness: When arriving in the room that was available, we found the in room bar snacks opened and partially used from the previous guests.
Room comfort: Air con was very noisy and not efficient - the room rarely dipped below 20 deg which was too warm for us
During the stay: We arrived back from a long day out to rest and change to find the room only just started to have been cleaned - this was 4pm. so had to wait 20mins in our travel companions room
In room breakfast was nice. However, both days it was late on the allotted time, and items missing with no explanation.
The Final Bill: When coming to pay, there were numerous charges on the bill. Notably mini bar drinks despite not being touched, and I was made to feel somewhat accused when the check out member of staff asked, more than once, if I was sure I hadn't had anything - yes seriously we have not. And then 10% mark up applied to the pre paid breakfast. By this I mean, a tray charge as advertised as extra for breakfast to the room (ok), but then in addition, including another 10% on both this charge and the pre paid breakfast price.
Summary - This was a great hotel, but so many niggles spoilt the experience.

The room was fantastic. It was as big as expected and was very clean. Breakfast was amazing food was cooked properly and there was plenty of choice. All staff encountered were very attentive and polite.
