Hotel room, lobby and facilities were all nice. Location was walking distance to our concert venue. I didn't find the bed very comfortable but it wasn't awful either. The ladies at reception during our check in were very nice and friendly.
We got there 25 minutes after the stated check in time but our rooms were still not ready. However, they did give my friend and I one free drink each of our choice as well as some light nibbles while we waited on the terrace for our rooms to be ready.

The room was a decent size
I prepaid my room in advance. The hotel refused to proceed with check-in and give me a key to the room I had paid for without a further £50 preauthorisation on my card. I am happy to preauthorise my card (with a zero balance) but fail to see why the hotel should hold actual cash when they can preauthorise a £0 balance to the same effect. When I put this to them I was bullied/ blackmailed into accepting their terms and conditions - which were not explicit in advance - or not allowed to check in. It's not the preauthorisation I object to, it was the bullying and the sense of entitlement to my actual cash in advance and without good reason that I object to. I would not stay here again because the check-in process was so uncompromising and arrogant. Either accept their policy or don't get your room key. Not ok.
