The table was really dirty when I entered the room, the ventilation was quite bad so it was not ideal to stay here during the heatwave. there was also a bible in the drawer? which i thought was weird

Bed was very comfortable. Room cleaning. No complaints . Breakfast had a good choice to select from.
The eggs with breakfast could have been better.

Location is very good. It is close to city centre with good and easy access to City centre shopping etc.
Discount code for parking did not work.

Pleasant
Fine for an overnight if needing to catch an early train.
The hotel exterior signage is not lit up at night so unless you know exactly what you are looking for, even with a SAT NAV, you may have to make several trips round the one way system. This was very frustrating.

It’s my first time to be around Manchester due to flight going abroad. The location has a bit difficult for me to locate going to the hotel.
The room I have is good and quiet. Although I only spend only four hours due to my flight delayed.

Location, and I've stayed here a few times so feels comfortable and familiar.
My room was right on the courtyard on the side by bike storage and public walkway. I was unsure if public could see into my room when the curtains were open.

Poor
Location; it was 20 mins walk to the Manchester Academy.
I blame myself for not looking closer at reviews; this doesn’t feel so much like a hotel. It’s more of a conference centre with rooms for delegates.
As many have reported it’s pretty tired and in need of an overhaul. I guess they can’t do anything with tiny pokey corridors but elevator buttons held together with sellotape? It was practically empty when we stayed there, on a Saturday night just before the Great Manchester Run.
I’m surprised at the excellent scoring some people have given, as I can’t have been the unlucky one with the condition of my room. And no, I shouldn’t have to complain or ask for a better room.
Dust and a couple of dead moths suggest the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned properly in quite a while. Water streaks down the walls, Broken conduits, peeling veneers and bodged repairs suggest that ongoing upkeep isn’t a priority here. It’s the sort of thing I’d expect in a cheap boarding house somewhere but not a large corporate facility or City Hotel.
The bar was supposed to be open until late, it was closed when we called by before 11.00.
I was unlucky that breakfast had pretty much dried out under the hot lamps when I got there but equally, they were slow to be replenished.
I don’t know too much about City Hotel rates these days but I think I paid a LOT of money to stay here. I couldn’t recommend or stay again, sorry.

Ver basic small room . Too hot as no aircon and the window could only open small amounts.

The location and proximity to the station, the water pressure in the shower was really good and the bedding was clean.
The room was really small and needs an urgent update - you are essentially staying in what feels like a student dorm. No air-con but a fan is provided…unfortunately with this recent heatwave the room was very hot.
Frankly, it felt overpriced for what you actually get.
