Not very much.
The entrance was unlit so I had to feel my way to the main door when I arrived at 8pm. I had accidentally booked a single room; it was basically an eaves cupboard and incredibly cramped. The room was extremely cold when I arrived as the wall mounted electric heater wasn't switched on. The hand basin was in the main bedroom and not in the shower room, it was so small that it was barely functional. The shower room was unheated and had no extractor fan. The shower door didn't close properly and the pressure of the shower was so low that I struggled to wash myself and my hair properly.
There was no space by the bed to put a glass of water etc - other than on the floor. The room was a bit tatty.
The whole property felt unloved and uncared for. I left as soon as I was able.

The staff we met were pleasant enough. The location was good, primarily because there is a very nice hotel with bar and restaurant 10 minutes walk away. The local transport is about 20 minutes walk. We got a UBER to the city centre for £15, which is worth it when you consider, most hotels in Manchester are charging £10-15 per day parking and the parking in this hotel is free, If going to football, get your taxi two and a half hours before the game due to traffuic and deman (which will increase the price)
Whilst breakfast is on offfer, there is nothing else, no bar, no restaurant, no snacks, No information about WIFI or any amenities was provided, we had to ask. The room was not very warm, thankfully there was an electric heater, but really electric fires present danger and they should have adequate heating on. We had to leave ours on when we went out so it was warm for when we returned,, but leaving heaters unattended is risky in our opinion. The bathroom / shower was cold too and you cannot put electric heaters in there. So I wouldnt recommened staying here in winter Autumn or early spring.

The hotel was clean & friendly, with a nice breakfast, but the lack of bar & evening meal spoilt it for me. Externally the hotel is in need of some serious tlc

Very good stay. I have known the Normnhurst for many years. It's looking a bit tired at the moment and needs some investment however the facilities are good and the staff are excellent
