Excellent staff clean and spacious rooms great facilities amazing location
Unfortunately the noise of the trams 11 floors up that’s all you can hear but it’s not the hotels fault

Disappointing
The mattress was too old and uncomfortable, the room heater didnt work and there was no air dryer. The isolation through the windows was poor so I could hear the street noise

Good
The location is excellent and central. Rooms were old fashioned but comfortable.
No charging point next to bed and only two lifts working resulting in a long wait.

Wonderful
The receptionist that booked us in was so nice. We talked about our concerts that were coming up.
She advised me where I could get a tram to my concert in April to the Co-op live.
The noisy neighbours obviously that's not the hotels fault

Pleasant
Good location.
Scratches on walls and chipped paint, springs on mattress were gone and no ventilation in the bathroom.

Wonderful
The staff were all lovely. All really friendly and were extremely helpful. That includes, reception, Bar Staff and housekeeping staff. The hotel is central and it's easy to get everywhere. Perfect for the Tram and Train. Breakfast was excellent loads of choice, couldn't fault it.
The bar was last orders at 10.30pm which we were very surprised at, as we had decided to spend time with family we had met there on the first night, a bit disappointed that there was not later opening for residents.
On our second night we were woken in the early hours by loud voices and banging. It turns out that the rooms surrounding ours were being used by the General Manager, Manager and visitors who should have know better than to wake other guests. We didn't get much sleep after that, not too happy.

Very Good
I have visited the Mercure on numerous occasions - it has become something of an annual holiday. From the moment that Rebecca greeted me at reception and offered me a free early check-in as soon as my room was ready, I knew it would be another good stay. I had lunch in the main bar and was looked after by the fabulous Abby who is always so charming and (apparently) pleased to see me! She was there again the next day as I enjoyed an excellent cooked breakfast and she manages to remain cheerful throughout. At breakfast you might also see Rose, and if you say "Hello" to her the smile you will receive in exchange will give your morning some extra pep. There are several terrific young people who work in the bar with Ben and Katyusuka both going above and beyond for me on this visit. Thank you all very much. The location is great. Just behind the hotel on Mosley Street is Cut & Craft, which is a very lovely restaurant where I had the best steak I have had in ages. It is only £28 for a three-course lunch. Highly recommended!
It is an oft repeated comment here but for the money, the rooms are a little tired. I had a privilege room (which was a reasonable upgrade at £21 per night) and this meant that I had a fridge to keep my eye drops cold. The room was quite spacious and with a comfortable bed. The wifi is a patchy however, which can be frustrating if you are trying to get some work done between visits out. At some point the sink in my bathroom had been broken and although it was now repaired the edges of the repair were sharp enough to draw blood on a carelessly wafted hand. Also, (a minor niggle I suppose) the design of the bowl meant that even a small jet of cold water from the tap produced splashes across the trousers at groin height!
Thank you for your information!
