The staff in general were great - welcoming and as helpful as they could be, mostly. Having two restaurants on site is a definite bonus. The location is very good with jump on access to the motorway.
We have stayed here before and that is why we chose it again, booked two nights. However our experience this time around was poor. Initially we had to call maintenance to replace a lamp which was buzzing ominously - in fairness they were very quick to arrive and replace it.
The glasses provided to drink from on the table were absolutely filthy.
We went out and about during the following day and on arrival back the room hadn't been touched - as in nothing refreshed. The coffee cups (used) and glasses were still there. Out in the corridor were still used plates/glasses in front of other rooms that had been there from the PREVIOUS day. The smell in the stairwell was appalling.
As we were going out to dinner that evening, I asked at reception if someone could refresh the room while we were out.
On our return, the bed had been turned down but all the dirty crockery and glasses were still there and the water had not been replaced (tiny 250/300ml containers). I called reception and they apologised and a guy arrived with two fresh glasses. A few minutes later someone else arrived with water (against hotel policy of one water per stay!) but as a gesture of goodwill. The dirty crockery remained, unusable.
After breakfast on our final day, we returned to our room only to find the keycards didn't work. I had to return to reception (a not insubstantial walk from the room!). 'Are you checking out today' I was asked. When I said we will be, the reply was 'well that's why the keycard stopped working'. We were well within the hotels stated departure time policy.
When checking out I asked one of the other receptionists why the hotel would cancel the room cards BEFORE the guests checked out and was informed that this was happening since the clocks went back in October! Seriously, in this day and age . If the system couldn't handle the time change, would a simple solution be to change the check out time by an hour on the system? Job done.

Asked for connecting rooms. Was told at reception we had connecting rooms. It turned out we didn’t. Rooms were not connecting. It was too far from reception and we were too tired to complain or call reception and move around. I found myself constantly bouncing between two rooms because had two teenage nephews with me and my young daughter
