Poor
I liked the location, the staff who we interacted with were friendly, the breakfast was very nice. The room was clean and comfortable
We were kept awake for several hours by noisy guests next door. Floor walks were not carried out which would have identified the issue. After 2 hours we had to knock ourselves and then make 2 phone calls to the night reception. After following this up with emails explaining how this spoiled our experience as well as the next day as we were tired, no offer of anything to compensate for this other than a complimentary breakfast.

Exceptional
The fact that it had lots of sports facilities. The gym was enormous with so many people involved in it. It was flourishing. It was so good to have a proper pool rather than a leisure pool. I was just starting my eighth swim challenge for Swim22 Diabetes UK so I had a swim before breakfast. The breakfast was superb with a full cooked breakfast, toast and jams and a choice of cereals. There were yogurts. The scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly. One of the main assets to this hotel was its staff. They were so warm and friendly. Excellent
There could have been a little more choice on the menu so that you didn’t have to go out but I could understand that it would suit a lot of people.

Fair
This was only a one night stay, & so for that reason was "acceptable" for the price paid. The staff were pleasent & the location was also good. The breakfast was better than most. Plently of places to eat & drink in the locality, but these were primarily aimed at the local student fraternity
The overall feel of the place was not great, & the room was very basic - endorsed by the YMCA plaque on the wall of the room. We did have a small dog with us so that may have had a bearing on the quality of the room, We were charges £20.00 for the bog, which we didn't object too, but no dog bed, or dog treats provided.

Very Good
The hotel was ideally located for our vist to our son who lives round the corner. the staff was very friendly and communicated very easily with us. The breakfast was adequate as there was a choice of cooked and continental breakfasts.
The lighting above the bed was oddly set up, and the light in the bathroom stayed on day and night even when we removed the key card.
The shower was all but a trickle so don't expect to be able to wash your hair easily.

Fair
Staff were very friendly and helpful, room was big, not much noise outside or in the hotel
Bathroom was mouldy, everything in the room tied to one light switch so couldn't have just a small light on, bathroom light was on a sensor which didn't always come on when you entered the room, the bed was 2 singles pushed together which weren't secured together so they drifted apart in the night, breakfast was disappointing - not much fresh fruit (not even a banana!) and the coffee was so awful we ended up buying a proper coffee from the hotel bar which was £4 each!

The staff were absolutely lovely. The coffee was good. Love the work you guys do, with the YMCA and supporting people through their lives. Loved the gym and pool as well. And the 3am curfew!
The wifi didn't reach my room (110) so i had to work downstairs, but i didn't mind as i didn't have any calls to make thankfully. I didn't rate the breakfast or the quiche for lunch all that much, unfortunately, but everything else was wonderful. I know 2 of my colleagues could hear other guests quite easily through the bedroom walls, snoring/speaking, so they didn't get all that good sleep, but maybe because i was on a corner i didn't have that issue.

Friendly staff and free use of the gym and pool. Location excellent for exploring the city
The timer on the bathroom light meant the lights would go off mid use.
