Fair
great central location. Having read other reviews had very low expectation but the room was clean and comfy
walls very thin so could hear people walking and talking in the corridor and floor above

Exceptional
Paula on reception welcomed us very warmly and saw to us straight away. Even though we were checking in very early our room was ready and she even saw to a small upgrade on our twin room for us. She was kind and knew the area and gave us some recommendations for places to eat.
The room was very spacious and immaculately clean. Plenty of teas and coffee and all the amenities you need for the night. Nice and warm too. Nothing overly fancy - it's exactly what you need for a single night.
Cannot fault it's location.
The doors in the main corridor/stairwell are a bit old and slam REALLY loud haha. Could hear them no matter where you were in the hotel. Perhaps that could be the next investment. Slow closing doors to the room corridors.

Disappointing
Breakfast menu was OK If you wanted standard English breakfast. However there was very little choice of healthy options. Cereal choice consisted of corn flakes or rice crispies. No muesli, granola, yogurt, nuts or honey.
Room was too hot. Bed and pillow was uncomfortable. Windows were filthy. There was mould on the window frame. Room was very basic and furniture and fittings were outdated. The whole hotel is desperately in need of a major renovation and upgrade.

Good
Great location, clean bed & bathroom, quite spacious, gorgeous interior lobby.
The alarm went off in the middle of the night and there was no real clarity of what we needed to do or where we needed to be, no staff were present to guide us anywhere so there was a lobby full of people in their pj’s who ultimately all decided to go back to bed.

Good
Central to town centre and not far from Piccadilly railway station. Also was excellent value for money as most of the time we were out. Really liked that we could leave our bags when we checked out so we could continue shopping. Managed to get checked in earlier and free WiFi. Staff very helpful and friendly. Stayed in a windowless room on top floor which was fine and had everything we needed.

Poor
Staff were friendly and polite, room was comfortable. Location was good, obviously, being central. Stunning architecture.
NO USB points of any kind in the rooms or public areas. In this day and age of electronic devices even in a grand old building like this it would not be difficult to install this facility. USB 2 and USB 'C' should be available.
No seating in the Reception area to wait for taxis, friends to collect etc. Instead we were pointed to an ante room to the side. Toilets a long way away and required a code to use.
Perfunctory restaurant menu (Carvery + one or two unappealing items) in the evening and the Pizzeria was closed.
The bar served only Guinness and a range of lagers. Does nobody drink beer in Manchester any more?
