beautiful building and amazing location with a huge comfy bed
we were given a room on the ground floor and were woken up on both nights by drunk people/bin men/workers outside our window multiple times which meant we didn't get a good night sleep, wish we knew it would be that noisy beforehand or that we'd be on the ground floor

Disappointing
The lady who checked us in was very welcoming. The lobby is pleasant enough and there’s a lovely smell.
Large bed.
The room was pretty awful. Bare plaster walls and exposed ceiling ventilation, AC unit on show etc. I realise this is a style choice and I sound like an old fart but honestly, it felt like a prison. Some nice mid century furniture but just it still felt very stark. The AC unit had a green light on it that kept flickering all night and every time it flickered there was a tapping noise, even when it was switched off - very annoying. The bathroom sink was too small for the huge tap, so it was hard to use without getting soaked. The bed had sunk a bit in the middle but worst of all, each of the four pillows provided were lumpy. There didn’t seem to be any spares in the room either, which we can’t have missed because there was nowhere wardrobe for them to be hidden in, just a pole on the wall to hang clothes on. The corridors leading to the room also have a prison feel!
Bottom line is, it’s not terrible but in terms of comfort and pleasant surroundings, I can honestly say I’ve had far better stays in Premier Inns.
To say that this is 4* is extremely generous and if you’re looking for something on a par with other 4* hotels in Manchester, like The Midland, you will be hugely disappointed. In the same price bracket, I’d recommend the Malmaison instead - much more comfortable.

Booked a classic room on the condition a 2nd bed would be installed for my niece who was joining me on the 2nd night. There were no twin bedded rooms available at the time of my booking.
When I checked in to room 510, there was no 2nd bed and definitely no space for one!
I returned to reception where a very helpful young lady offered me a ground floor room (10), which had an extremely large bed - maybe 180/200cm wide. I agreed to change to that room as myself and my niece would have a good space between us

Rooms were clean and had everything I needed. Was in a perfect location and staff were lovely. I will be returning soon.
Breakfast service was very slow but food was lovely, just had a long wait if ordering off the menu.

Lovely rooms and location, always love the decor of this place. Perfect amenities and the most comfortable beds.
The check in staff were a bit rude and clueless about my stay. They almost insisted I pay again after I had previously paid on booking.com and only let it go when I showed proof of payment. Stayed over for a birthday and it wasn’t even verbally acknowledged by staff. Was returning after multiple previous stayed and wasn’t even welcomed back :(
