I liked the location as it was in the centre of everything. I thought the rooms were very spacious and the bathrooms were lovely as well.
Unfortunately the hot water tap was not working which we flagged with the staff but it was not fixed. There also was nothing in the fridge which I expected.

The Alan has probably been one of the best kept secrets for a quality experience in Manchester. The value for many for this property could not be better. The breakfast was amazing value and selection was excellent. The staff at all times of day were so helpful and friendly it was a pleasure to stay there. The Co-working deal the next day was also exceptional value for money in such pleasant surroundings for myself and my college.

It’s a proper boutique hotel. Very design led. If anything I felt too old and not cool enough to be there. The standard room size is above average for Manchester. Food is above average. Staff are friendly and helpful. Everything is a QR code, or on WhatsApp and you have to go to the staff to ask for things, but once you get past that the system works fine.
Being in Chinatown, the drains have a certain odour shall we say, and that’s not really the hotel’s fault it’s kinda unavoidable. Just shut the bathroom door and it’s fine. A lot of the staff are gen z and their social skills are… different. There is a lack of consistency in how you are approached/handled. Nothing terrible and everyone did their best. The lack of an actual reception desk etc can be a little disorientating to start with. It is an unconventional set up. But if you can cope with that and the price is good I would recommend. The only other thing is for a space that obviously wants to be hip and cool, the coffee was terrible and the quality of the continental breakfast foods was lacking.

Check-in was easy and we even got the room earlier than stated for no extra cost. The room was gorgeous and the bed was massive and so comfy. Great central location right next to tram stop.
