Built in 1876 The Black Lion Hotel Manchester Hotel is a brand new refurbished Manchester themed hotel that boosts 13 luxury themed bedrooms of iconic streets and buildings that Manchester has to offer. Located in the perfect spot for the city-goers, we are a 10-minute walk from the Manchester Arndale Shopping Center and a short walk to Victoria train station, the local metro links, and the AO Arena, which is approximately a 10-minute walk away. We have an amazing connection to CO-OP Live Arena via car, approximately 15 minutes, or via tram, approximately 12 minutes. The 13 brand new swanky rooms are individually furnished, and come with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen Smart TVs with Netflix streaming, tea and coffee making facilities, heating controlled system, king-size beds and walk in showers. The hotel offers 24-hour hotel access, key card access and night porters are at your call if needed. Please note that there is no elevator at the property and no ground floor rooms. Every single thing we liked. The checking experience with Kayleigh was faultless. She couldn't have done or explained anything more for us. We sat in the bar and shared a bottle of wine before hitting the German Markets as we felt so comfortable.

Breakfast was really good, full English, cereal option,juice and coffee you can help yourself to. Really great service and staff all very welcoming and helpful. We will be staying again, great location!

Great location, not far to walk into the centre. Clean and tidy, we read it was newly refurbished. Bathroom is modern and the shower was lovely. Radiators actually worked, our room had a good amount of space. Bed and pillows are clean and comfy too. Good breakfast options. Staff are so lovely and attentive.
Sometimes the bathroom light wouldn’t come on properly or it would turn on when no one was using it. Would have liked a few more options on the pub menu but the food options are good. Other than that no complaints.

Location’s great.
All seemed well on check-in, but it quickly unraveled from there. Shower temperature unbearably hot, so I just couldn’t get clean. Sink didn’t drain either. Basically unusable, which isn’t ideal. Mentioned it, but told simply that someone was meant to be coming this week to fix it - none of which is a solution for me. And that was that. You can’t let a room out without a functioning bathroom. Unacceptable.

The lobby/front desk is also a public bar, which I thought was a cool, unique touch. Centrally located near lots of shops and restaurants, room was spacious and comfortable.
There is no elevator, and I found one of the staff a bit rude.

breakfast was below par - standard was fairly poor and took a wee while to arrive. Not awful for the money though! Was a little bit of noise from the hallway. Good budget stay overall

Great location for my needs (a conference at the nearby and more expensive Lowry Hotel) and fair price. Friendly staff. Bathroom was good - nice shower (if a bit hard to change the temperature). Fair cooked breakfast (though the chef didn't turn up the second morning).
Bedroom had a fair amount of noise bleeding through from the corridor (heavy doors closing, people talking) and showers / extractor fans in other rooms. Bright green led light (smoke detector?) not conducive to good sleep.
