travelling in time, a perfect time capsule bringing you back in Victorian time. in the present, next to Farringdon station, connected to King's Cross St Pancrass, Heathrow (Elisabeth line) and other airports. Walking distance from Covent Garden. Nice bars and restaurants (Cebu is amazing, Gail) next door. Super friendly staff, especially Bangheera the black cat owning the place.

Wonderful
The Rookery is an attractive inner city boutique hotel in Farringdon and is very conveniently located for exploring London’s Westend. The decor is sheik with sympathetically chosen textiles and contemporary colours. The staff are welcoming and provide excellent local knowledge and London tips for guests. We appreciated the deep roll top bath..just the job for soaking away the days travel. All in all pricey but recommended.
Our room lacked a convenient power point for easy use of the supplied hairdryer and these days it seems odd that mobile charging is not provided on both sides of the bed. My partner would have preferred the door to have a separate internal deadlock but the building and fittings are from an earlier period.

Impeccably thought out, very well run, thoughtful curation and placement of vintage books, antique furniture and artwork. Plus, the cat Bagheera, who oversees all with a mixture of affection and feigned indifference.
It’s very peaceful and quiet, with lovely rooms where one can sit and relax, well stocked honour bars, and plenty of old books to peruse.
What’s not to like??
Great location, close walking distance to many sights of old London, steps from the Charterhouse and Great St Barts, as well as a 15 minute stroll to St Paul’s.
Do ensure you are in good walking and climbing shape though, as the hotel does not have a lift! We were on the very top floor, which meant we thought twice about leaving the room for anything!

Pleasant
The decoration was stunning — full of charm, personality, and authentic English character. It’s genuinely a shame, because we couldn’t enjoy a single night of uninterrupted sleep due to the relentless noise.
The noise levels were absolutely unacceptable for a property in this price range. The soundproofing was a bad joke. Loud music and street noise blared all night and into the early morning. On top of that, the wooden floors were unbelievably squeaky — every step from the room above echoed through ours like a drumbeat. We could hear every single movement from the guests upstairs, especially their constant pacing, which made sleep nearly impossible.
It was unbearable. We woke up constantly, night after night. For this price, we expected a restful, quality experience — not three nights of frustration and exhaustion.
You had one job: to offer a good night’s sleep. You failed. Miserably.

Beautiful hotel with lots of character, in a historic part of London. Tastefully decorated and staff are super helpful too. Only a few mins walk to Farringdon station too.

Very Good
Staff were really helpful. Location was ideal. Beds were very comfortable and the air-con worked well in the heat. Interesting history and spaces.
The room we stayed in didn't have a shower. It just had a bath with a shower attached to the tap. Aesthetically pleasing, but not the most convenient.
