Set in central London's fashionable Clerkenwell area, The Rookery offers charming rooms with elegant period furnishings and free WiFi. Only 328 feet from Farringdon Railway Station, the small hotel is also just 5 minutes' walk from Barbican Tube Station. With sumptuous antique furniture and artwork, each individually styled and air-conditioned room offers a flat-screen LCD TV. The luxury private bathrooms boast land&water toiletries and a hairdryer. In the mornings, guests at The Rookery can enjoy breakfast in the elegant conservatory or served to the privacy of the room. Breakfast includes freshly baked croissants. For lunch and evening meals, there is a room service menu as well as a wide range of restaurants and bars in the immediate area. Set within a row of 18th-century houses, The Rookery still retains many original features. Guests can relax in the library or in front of an open fire in the oak-paneled lounge. Very Good
Gives you a nice old english feel. The bathrooms are unique with the quaint plumbing. The lounge area was fun to have a drink in. Everyday the staff put out a complimentary cake. Nice breakfast areas close by.
The water temperature adjustments are actually a bit dangerous. No real restaurant area in the hotel. In some rooms the bathrooms are in the room with only a curtain to divide them.

It was clear from the minute we arrived this place was more than just a hotel to the staff and so much more than just a room to stay in. We were invited in and encouraged to relax by the fire, look thru the library or just admire the many treasured pieces of art all around.. Such a lovely place.

Disappointing
-Easy for someone traveling into London by train -Comfy bed
-I traveled by myself for a social event, I was not allowed to invite someone to my room after the event. It was very embarrassing and the receptionist was very judgemental and not flexible. Saying publically 'no you will just make too much noise,' (even though I paid for a "soundproofed" room regardless), and offering we sit in the lounge next to reception. I mean talk about making you feel unwelcome and embarrassed. I have never had an experience like that at a hotel, and I travel to hotels for work with my own business and she treated me appallingly. The receptionist was not even actively listening and kept interrupting us repeating the same thing that not allowed to go upstairs. I was very upset and frustrated, considering the price I paid for my room, and with no "rule" like this advertised upon booking and checking in. If I knew they would have acted like this toward me, I would have never chosen this hotel for a nice social night away in London. I saved up and had this planned, and my experience in London was ruined by this hotel being so uptight and unreasonable. Considering if a couple went upstairs, no problem. Yet a single person going upstairs, there's judgment and rules. Very annoying. -On booking this hotel, the description of what's included is not the reality of what you get. -If you are planning to go to London to enjoy an evening out, do not choose this hotel... you will get a better customer experience, without the contradicting rules, at a premier inn. -Not worth the money, everything is an added extra charge at checkout.. very disappointed considering the price I paid anyway.

Very Good
The room are very cute and old fasshioned along with the bathrooms. Excatly your image of an English Inn with plenty of history. The little bar and sitting room is quite cozy. Would be nice if there was not a gas fired but instead a real wood burning fireplace for environmental and cost reasons.
The bathroom has the old big standing bathtubs with no proper shower or curtain. Some bathrooms only have a curtain separating Bathroom/toilet from the bed So you have to climb in the tub and sit to take a shower The hot water mixer when you switch from the bathtub faucet to handheld showerhead cannot hold the temperature and can be quite scalding so be careful. Some of the rooms are at the top of lots of stairs. No lift available.
