Set in central London's fashionable Clerkenwell area, The Rookery offers charming rooms with elegant period furnishings and free WiFi. Only 328 feet from Farringdon Railway Station, the small hotel is also just 5 minutes' walk from Barbican Tube Station. With sumptuous antique furniture and artwork, each individually styled and air-conditioned room offers a flat-screen LCD TV. The luxury private bathrooms boast land&water toiletries and a hairdryer. In the mornings, guests at The Rookery can enjoy breakfast in the elegant conservatory or served to the privacy of the room. Breakfast includes freshly baked croissants. For lunch and evening meals, there is a room service menu as well as a wide range of restaurants and bars in the immediate area. Set within a row of 18th-century houses, The Rookery still retains many original features. Guests can relax in the library or in front of an open fire in the oak-paneled lounge. By Smithfield Market and on the outskirts of London's financial Square Mile, The Rookery is just over 1 mile from South Bank’s Tate Modern gallery. Impressive St. Paul's Cathedral is only half a mile away.

The hotel is very lovely, located in a perfect spot for sightseeing and attending work meetings in case you have any in the City. There is plenty of great restaurants nearby.

The decor and atmosphere are exceptional. The location is midway between the City and the West End which makes it ideal as a base to explore both.
Nothing to dislike

Wonderful
Beautiful spacious comfortable suite, which was quiet and cool in the hot weather. Lovely drawing rooms and outside terrace to enjoy the honesty bar drinks and the complimentary afternoon cake.
I would expect a King size bed in a room of this size. Shower was difficult to use without soaking the bathroom but the old traditional style was very authentic.

I loved the Rookery very much! The hotel lounges, the library and the garden are very pretty and my room was super comfortable. Loved the little design details. All the hotel staff was incredibly kind and very knowledgeable and made my stay amazing.
My room shared a tiny entry hall with another room and my neighbours happened to come and leave a lot late night, with a little noise, as well as the room service bringing them breakfast at 7am woke me up - even if they really tried to be as quiet as possible.

The decoration is magnificent. Rooms are just gorgeous, classy and quite original. Staff was super helpful, even gave us a nice upgrade. We were made to feel very welcome. All in all a very pleasant discovery in a neighbourhood where one wouldn't necessarily expect such a cosy gem. Rooms, with double windows, were remarkably quiet even though the hotel is in a relatively lively area.
Nothing deal-breaking, but two things to bear in mind: > the hotel doesn't have an elevator, so be ready for some exercise if you're on the second or third floor (but staff is very helpful in bringing your luggage to your room); > the double bed is a mere 1M35 wide and king size is 1M50 (a bit narrow for us tall guys).

Friendly staff. Unique features in rooms. Comfortable bed.
No shower in bathroom, just a bath with shower head ( but no curtain). No coffee or milk in room, just kettle and teabags. Breakfast not included.
