Very Good
Let me start by saying, ALL of the staff is amazing! Each and every one of them were attentive and kind. Special nod to Levente at the concierge desk who was VERY helpful and friendly. It's a unique and a little quirky hotel, which I truly enjoy! No cookie cutter hotel chain, this place has personality! Our room had a VERY comfortable king size bed, tub/shower combo (the shower head could use some attention) but the water pressure was good. We ate dinner one night in their restaurant The Blue Door Bistro. We had their fish and chips with curry sauce on the side. Our first time having curry with fish and chips and it was wonderful! Great service, very attentive staff and delicious. I LOVED the Leopard Bar. Great vibe, cocktails and snacks, but the best part was the saxophone player Martin. Martin you and the Girl From Ipanema” made my stay. Thank you Martin!
The living room area in the hotel has a great location, right off the nice lobby, but the furniture arrangement is TERRIBLE and most of the furniture is tired. Same furniture as in the brochure photos but again arranged horribly and in need of a desperate refresh! At the very least, bring in a space planner/designer to simply rearrange the furniture to make it feel more welcoming.

Wonderful
The concierge was knowledgeable, friendly and extremely helpful. I left my credit card in the taxi when we left to board a train to Dover (this is what happens when you don't allow enough time to get to your destination). The concierge called me to let me know that I had left it and asked if I wanted them to send it to me or shred it. I was so happy that the taxi driver and the concierge was so gracious to inform me so that I did not have to worry about where I lost it. The concierge's recommendations for dining were spot on and above par. Breakfast was very good and the restaurants ambience was wonderful. One of the restaurants had a view of the gardens owned by the Duke of Bedford. The bar was well stocked with a beautiful design and wonderful entertainment. The location is in a quiet neighborhood, and it is easily walkable to numerous attractions.
Our room was quite small and not easy to maneuver around our luggage. Bathroom was small as well. However, the plus side was we had French doors that opened into a small, private courtyard. Unfortunately, we were not able to use it as it rained during our entire stay.

Wonderful
Friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful breakfast. Loved the English breakfast tea throughout the day. Clean room; loved the window seat so there was room to spread out. Art work.
Swirl-only toilet often, in spite of repair man visit. Very little bathroom counter space. Time to turn the mattress.

Amazing stay! We were three and were upgraded to the Prince suite. Room was classy and spacious enough, beds and bedding was superb. This hotel is the best that London has to offer in the vintage glam vibe. Location is amazing, walking distance from everything. Staff is wonderful, agreed to make the room after 16 when we asked. Waters, coffee, everything was restocked each day. Made our trip for sure! Book it. There is no better than this. My first time giving a 10 in booking (thought this was a myth!)
Maybe the option of ordering breakfast from the menu, without extra charge. Hotel is very expensive and prices on the menu are low so it is worth to give the option for free

The breakfast had a buffet plus order off the menu for items like omelette or poached eggs. The chose was plentiful and served by a very friendly staff. The hotel location is next to the British Museum and excellent. Great choice.
Can't think of any negatives. Everyone on the staff was super nice and helpful. The went out of their way to make you feel welcome and appreciated. Would stay there again.

The highlight is the very kind staff and the location.
I was expecting more from the breakfast for the price and for the comments I read. It would be nice if they had pancakes/waffle included in the breakfast (you needed to pay an extra price for it). Also I was expecting more variety of pastries/cakes/pies.

Assigned to room 214. The room had a stairway to the restroom making it difficult for us as seniors.

Montague on the Gardens is just across the street from The British Museum and 1/2 block from Russell Square, so it's very convenient to the Underground, to attractions in the Bloomsbury District, and close to many theatres. Our ground floor room was quite spacious for a London hotel, and the bathroom had plenty of space for our cosmetic bags. The shower was superb. Staff were very attentive and kind. The lovely biscuits brought to our room at teatime was an unexpected and much appreciated treat. I hope we get to stay there again our our next visit.
I didn't find time to spend in the gardens! I'll be sure to rectify that on my next visit. Breakfast is not included in the rate, but is offered as an add-on. We didn't do that, so I can't comment on breakfast. Maybe next time.

I cannot say enough about this hotel! The Montague is an example of a fine, classic luxury London hotel (at a more reasonable price). The decor makes one feel right at home...woodwork and fixtures gleaming. The location is wonderful...on a quiet street but near to transportation. The bar, off-the-lobby breakfast room and restaurant were welcoming and the food excellent. The real stars of the hotel, however, are the staff, from the maids to the manager.
Not one single thing was amiss!

Staff were wonderful
There was a gratuity charge included in the bill but I still didn’t know if I should tip staff as they were helping all the time and I was not sure if they were to be tipped each time or was the gratuity charge covering it

The hotel itself, the jazz nights and the wonderful staff who had the perfect blend of friendliness and courteousness. Sonia and her rice pudding went well beyond the call of duty. I would not stay anywhere else

The location could not have been better, the hotel itself is an oasis of charm and old world sanity in the madness of London, but what stands out above and beyond expectations is the staff. Always smart in their early 20th century uniforms,, they were charming, mannerly, friendly, nothing was too much trouble, always cheerful - and Sonia the gorgeous, delightful, laughing whirlwind deserves special mention. Also deserving of special mention is Martin Winning, the saxophonist who plays at the hotel on Jazz Nights. Truly wonderful. This is an exceptional, special hotel. Ten stars. I liked it so much it's the location for my next novel.
I loved everything. The furniture is wonderful, the decor is fabulous. the cheerful, elegant, old-world feeling is amazing. It's like the novel by Amor Towels, A Gentleman in Moscow, a beautiful echo from a lost time.

We love the location, just around the corner from the British Museum and a diagonal walk across Russel Square/park to Russell Square tube station. It’s a classic English hotel with gracious common rooms and delightful, very attentive staff. The breakfast was amazing, great grazing and anything else you might want on request in no time, including great lattes.
The room we had was a little more than a little on the small side, but very well appointed. Didn’t dampen our enjoyment in the least.
