Wonderful
Excellent location and great art all around the hotel. Good vibe at the hotel and staff was great. Overall a good experience.
The “balcony” wasn’t really private and on a shared walkway. No bath robes in the rooms. Locks on doors are a little finicky.

Pleasant
The Mandrake is a stunning and sensual hotel. The concept is interesting and it makes you feel like you’ve entered a different world. The staff are friendly, especially Simone at reception. YOPO was great.
My husband and I stayed there overnight for our wedding anniversary. We had booked the terrace room as it has an outdoor area. We were given room 9 and was thoroughly disappointed as the outdoor area was actually a walkway to their kitchen/service area. And it faces a restaurant/bar (not quite sure what it is). There are constantly people sitting there (not a metre away from our room) and staff dragging trolleys etc outside our terrace doors. The walkway was constantly messy with trolleys etc. It was not peaceful at all! We couldn’t even draw our curtains as someone can see you inside the room. It was horrible. We called for a changed of room but it was not granted, even though we arrived on time at check in. There was no greeting to us for our anniversary even though we’d informed the hotel, not even a card. The room was small and as we couldn’t draw the curtains, it felt claustrophobic. And we informed the reception about this. The room was also cold throughout the whole stay, even after turning the temperature up. It would be fine if we have a thick duvet but the duvet was thin and flimsy, i had to put on the bathrobe to sleep. It wasn’t a great experience overall but my husband and I had a lovely time at YOPO. Overall I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Staff was fantastic, my wife loved the Wavess Wellness Pool, we even enjoyed the complimentary reiki and sound healing as a relaxing session (obviously disregarding all the 'health'/'energy' claims about it). The afternoon tea was surprising and very enjoyable. Restaurant was really nice, esp. the wine, the food (sirloin and haddock) were just alright. The terrace was great despite the below.
The room, although anywhere else you'd be more than satisfied with it, may seem a bit of a let down when compared to the iconic mandrake suite that's advertised everywhere. It would be great if a bit more of that style, colour scheme, was used here as well. The terrace wasn't private, but actually accessible to pretty much everyone, but still felt incredibly peaceful and you would never believe you are in the middle of London.

The Mandrake is a quirky and unique hotel with a fantastic location, offering a vibrant and stylish atmosphere that stands out from other places in the area. The eclectic decor and attention to detail give it a fun, artsy vibe, making it a memorable stay.
The shower experience could be improved, as the drain didn’t work properly, which was a bit of an inconvenience during my stay.

Atmosphere
I forgot my silk pyjamas under the pillow and realised it just 5 hours after check-out. I immediately contacted the reception, but it took them hours to reach housekeeping. The next day, they claimed nothing was found.
I had only a toothbrush, toothpaste, and those pyjamas with me — nothing else — and I went home in my own car. When I got home and didn’t see the pyjamas in my bag, I instantly called the hotel. It’s very disappointing that instead of showing any real effort to help, the response felt dismissive — as if I simply “lost it myself.”
It’s not about the value of the item, but about how the situation was handled. Either the item was taken by housekeeping or sent to laundry with the bedding — but I was never informed whether those possibilities were even checked. The most unpleasant part is being made to feel like I imagined it or made a mistake, when I know exactly what I had with me. It leaves a bad impression and damages trust.
