Disappointing
The hotel was cozy and quiet, with a perfect location. Staff were very friendly and helpful as well
However, I found the room very small—even though I had been upgraded—and it lacked a dresser, which was disappointing. Overall, the hotel felt more like a 4-star property rather than the 5-star standard it claims, especially considering the price I paid.
There were also two major issues I did not appreciate. First, upon arrival, I was charged £200 as a deposit without being informed in advance. I was simply trying to pay the reservation cost as indicated in my booking (“pay at the property”), but only realized the total was higher when the transaction went through. A deposit of this size should be clearly communicated beforehand.
Second, during checkout, the invoice included a charge around £50 higher than my booking total. When I asked about it, I was told it was a “service fee.” I hadn’t requested any special services, and everything should have been included in the booking price. When I objected, they said it was “optional” and offered to remove it—after the fact. This left me with the impression that they were adding hidden charges in hopes that guests wouldn’t notice.
Additionally, the bed sheets were not very clean—they had visible makeup stains. While the staff kindly offered to replace them, the new set they provided was also not properly clean, which was quite disappointing.
Overall, while the location and quiet atmosphere were appreciated, the experience did not meet my expectations, especially for the cost.
