This old school hotel is still my favorite in London.
With its unbeatable location and the courtesy of the staff, unmatched by other properties within the same category, San Domenico will not disappoint you!
The culinary offering is also definitely worth a try.

Disappointing
Elegant property with helpful and friendly staff
The property wasn’t as described and so we felt cheated. This isn’t in any way a five star hotel. The “bar” is a small unstaffed room up three flights of stairs with a desk that has room temperature drinks on it and a small fridge underneath. It is not the “bar” one would expect when people gather for chat and casual drinks. It’s a brightly lit room with laminate flooring and a sofa, with the aforementioned desk.

The room was beautiful and large. Our welcome was warm and included a glass of bubbly. Staff were very attentive, housekeeping was excellent, and special spots like the parlor and terrace were lovely.

1. Extremely small lift (2 ppl max) that did not service our floor (room 404). We were physically able to walk the stairs every day, but this could certainly be problematic for persons with mobility issues. We did have to carry luggage down multiple flights of stairs upon check out.
2. “Breakfast included” is for continental breakfast only. Bread basket, fruit bowl, yogurt, cereal, coffee or tea. No protein included. We paid 9 pounds each for a portion of eggs (poor value for our money).
3. We traveled with friends and we both booked deluxe rooms. My friend was put in room 101 which was advertised in the photos. She had a large soaking tub with plush linen and large room. We booked the same exact room and received the polar opposite. Our room (404) was much smaller, no large soaking tub (as pictured), no plush linens, and overall underwhelming. My friend was happy with her deluxe room but I was disappointed with mine as it didn’t appear at all like the pictures.
3. The fitness center advertised is off site.

We didn’t eat breakfast so can’t rate . Staff were very nice although one of the ladies had terrible body odour which lingered in our room after she’d come to show us how to use the shower - location perfect , honour bar on top floor is a great idea and the downstairs lounge was very intimate and a nice place to sit .
It was incredibly difficult to blow dry our hair as we couldn’t plug in to anywhere in bathroom . Just a few sort of lazy things like having to ask for evening turn down and a delicious chocolate which we had received on two prior nights . Knob on wardrobe came off in my hand and we found it almost impossible to use shower . For a hotel charging these prices, they need to smarten up the service and functionality a bit .
