I thought the location was great, the room was lovely and the staff were generally very helpful and friendly.
Overall, a lovely hotel in a perfect location but it wasn’t a 5 star experience unfortunately.
1. Spa services unavailable which wasn’t noted ahead of time
2. We came back to our room around 3:30pm to get changed to go out but there was a cleaner in our room- she did leave within 5 minutes and was apologetic but we didn’t expect someone to be in our room at that time
3. The person I was staying with had a poor experience at the Aviary where the buffet was offered as an option which they took but it hadn’t been restocked so there was very little food left and no cutlery at their table. They were given the meal for free when staff realised what had happened which was appreciated but overall walked away from the experience disappointed.
4. When looking to check-in we stood at the check-in desk for a long time before being served, another couple that was being assisted by a doorman got served before us despite having arrived after us.
5. After our stay, I got an email offering me a discount on May bank holiday weekend which was 2 weeks prior to our stay.
6. The panel in our room which controlled the heating (the room was incredibly warm!) and lights looked to be using a trial version of software so didn’t always work.

Rooms were dated and could do with some maintenance e.g curtains needed replacing, tear in headboard, cracks in floor tiles, stains on carpet, red mould on shower grouting
