Disappointing
Staff were super helpful and polite, went out of their way to accommodate several requests. Sheets and towels were clean, location was outstanding. Room size was cozy but normal given the location.
Mattress seemed old and was very uncomfortable, pillows were flat, the walls in our room were patch-over painted (not in an artistic way!), hallway carpet was stained.

I love the age and style of this art deco building! Our bed was super comfy but something I noticed that was unusual was the fact there was no mattress protector between the mattress and sheet? A small detail but important I think. I love the hotel’s consideration for unnecessary waste .. no small, plastic bottles in the bathroom for instance. Decor is super stylish in keeping with the age of the building. The location is absolutely fab too!
There was considerable noise from the room above ours… chairs scraping across the floor, loud talking, running feet and what sounded like a ball being bounced! The rooms are not carpeted so might explain this… but not very conducive to a restful evening, unfortunately.

The hotel had a fault with the electrical system, but didn’t inform us , until check in , we could not use any of the bars or restaurants, breakfast was served across the road , an hour to queue and then cold ,

Some issues with drain smell in the first room, had to change rooms. The receptionist would not give me an invoice for the stay. They said I had to request it though booking.com, booking.com is waiting for Melia to provide it. Still waiting for the invoice. It’s the first time a hotel would not give the receipt.

This is a large (very large) hotel in an excellent location and in very good order internally. The staff, and there are many, couldn't do enough for you. First rate. There are 4 lifts, never a wait, computerised, as was all of the room switching.
No room coffee machine...instant powder! Only 2 teabags and milks -a feeling of being rationed.
