We were evacuated because staff had to self-isolate.

Location was excellent
We booked a family room and I phoned the hotel the evening before to confirm our reservation yet on arrival we were told none were available and so we had to split up between 2 rooms. The telephone in one bedroom did not work and the television repeatedly turned itself off. The breakfast was not as we would expect for a 5 star hotel. On 2 mornings we had to wait 20 minutes for drinks and had to ask for them again. There was a limited selection of food and it was not particularly warm.

The location is brilliant. What is not to like about being right on Piccadilly!
I've never had a worse breakfast! Ever! Anywhere! Stone cold 'English breakfast' was so unpleasant! Other than that the only offering was tiny, horrid pastries, basic toast, concentrated juices and tepid filter coffee. Sooo bad!!

Reception and bar / terrace design were very nice.
The rooms were clearly part-refurbished on a tight budget. The bed wasn't very comfy and the room was stuffy.

Location and friendly staff
Minor things - Staff missed a couple of requests - water in room and sauces for breakfast, but they were very busy and soon sorted everything.

Wonderful
The location is great. The kids love swimming so it was a bonus that the hotel has a pool. Love the welcome treats for the family to enjoy Treated ourselves to the themed afternoon tea
Food service could be better. The staff seemed unorganised in some situation. You have to grab their attention a number of times. Suggest to give staff an area they are responsible for so they can look after the guests on their area better rather than no allocation. The afternoon tea could offer more savoury things, no information as well if you wanted seconds especially with the drinks. Staff could be more attentive, but overall they were very nice

The beds are super comfy and the rooms are spacious and have everything you need. Staff on reception couldn’t be more helpful.
Shower pressure low (although they upgraded our room to compensate for this) Breakfast disappointing- no cereal and no choice of eggs. One yoghurt and a fruit salad. Limited choice of you don’t like pastry or fried food.

Wonderful
The rooms were very pleasantly decorated with very comfy beds. We used the pool and wonderful steam room every day. Breakfast in The Terrace was lovely surrounded by plants and the location couldn’t have been better - as central as they come.
We had to be moved for our last night as the sink was leaking. We were upgraded to a suite which was very nice but the two extra beds for the kids were not put in the room by their bedtime and we had to call several times to get someone to sort it.

Fair
The Dilly is in an excellent location, next to Piccadilly station and a short walk to Buckingham palace and The Ritz The exterior of The Dilly is very grand and the entrance hall is lovely. Staff on reception were lovely and welcoming Lovely swimming pool
We booked for two adults and one child aged 9. When we arrived into our room, we had one king sized bed between three of us, admittedly the bed was very large. Reception were informed and a very small camp bed arrived in our room. At a rate of £581 for two nights midweek we were very disappointed to find a very small camp bed, my sister is tiny and it was a squeeze for her. The room overall wasn’t particularly nice, very bog standard. Not even a complementary biscuit or bottle of water. Breakfast was not an enjoyable experience. The actual food was mediocre but the service was so slow and incompetent. Walked in to one waitress on her phone. The staff had no idea what they were doing apart from maybe two waiters who stood out like a sore thumb just for doing the basics. There was a buffet style layout, which was served to you, but no staff ever waiting to serve you, you had to hang around and hope one of them saw you for them to just plop it onto your plate. Rubbish fruit salad and poor pastry selection and a few slices of toast. The hotel was half closed, I assume due to covid, but we were not informed of this prior to booking or after booking, or even on arrival. The downstairs bar was never open, the terrace bar was closed from 6pm everyday. Go to the premier inn is my advice, The Dilly is not worth staying at.

Not much
The air conditioning didn't work. We paid £800 for 2 nights in a suite. Very shabby room. Had to move rooms at 11pm. Breakfast was dreadful, staff useless. We checked out early and went to the mayfair instead!!!

Very Good
The interior of the hotel was very stylish and it felt like a bit of luxury and such a great location in the beating heart of London! Swimming pool facility was lovely as were the robes in the room and slippers.
Too many different wait staff coming over. Much better to be assigned one person as it got confusing and messy when ordering and was a bit let down by the breakfast service to be honest. We weren’t offered a hot drink as soon as we sat down; it was all very bizarre and then we weren’t sure about process. No one welcomed us and took us through how it works etc. Definitely could be improved to make it smoother. We were then charged drinks upon check out for the coffee and tea we had at breakfast but it was breakfast included, again very weird. We had to ring room service to order water as there wasn’t any in our room when we arrived, again very weird yet when we rang them up they said yes we have complimentary water for your rooms.
