Disappointing
We love the Dilly. It holds nostalgia for us - its part of our history. When they're on song, they can't go over and beyond to help.
Sometimes like a relationship, you hit the rough spots...and this time around there were a few...and I'm now wondering whether it's time to break up!
It was the night befire my wedding night, an upgraded room in celebration of my forthcoming nuptuals and my mood was buoyant.
I was given a refurbed room and this unfortunately, is where the trauma and thoughts of a break up start.
The TV didn't work, it has a 'mobile connection' explained the site team - eventually, when they arrived over an hour and a half after my first enquiry. The upgraded room on the 2nd floor felt dark and dingy. When things didnt work out (fixing the tv) I asked for a change of rooms. It seemed like a first world problem, but the the time taken to rectify a simple fixable was the crossing point. I wanted to relax before a night out. A pre wedding night, settling of the nerves.
The 2nd room was on the edge of needing a refurb. Dark and dingy once again, and the TV didnt work properly (BBC 1). Its minor I thought and thoughts returned of my wife to be.
Breakfast I thought would be the resolution but the meet and greet service, felt compelled to explain the system of pressing a button on a coffee machine, and 'can you see where you can get the eggs and bacon from'. Well yes I can, but for the safety briefing, which felt like 2 minutes which turned into those 15 minute non outcome meetings, where your mind wanders into 'I've lost 15 minutes I'll never get back', as the daily herd of coffee addics swarm around, through and into you whilst the briefing officer smiles (to himself), in the delivery of a textbook script.
The coffee was machine brewed and weak. The breakfast unappealing other than a fruit compot which tasted 'zingy'. Move on I thought, I'm getting married in 3 hours.
I know, I'll wait and rest.

Positionally it is exceptional, right on Piccadilly square, an easy walk to regent street, to Carnaby and up to Oxford street. Covent Garden also a 10 min walk.
It’s very tired, and despite having pool facilities, it doesn’t make for a great experience. On a value you for money basis, there is better - that said, location is perhaps a reason for the cost.

Perfectly located on Piccadilly. Big room, extra big bed, lots of nice white towels. Ideal for shopping in Fortnum and Mason, Hatchards and Waterstones!
A bit tired but it’s being renovated so that’s what I was expecting. Very noisy partition doors in the corridor that were banging during the night whenever someone walked through, needs spring dampeners on them. Dated TV.

The location is great, staff is friendly. We were so happy to receive a warm welcome flower petals with towel swan, a bottle of champion. That make our whole trip to UK for 2 weeks a wonderful ending

The staff are so warm and welcoming and that is always a real highlight at The Dilly which has become a favourite hotel for us when we visit London. All options are covered at breakfast and the terrace setting is absolutely delightful.
We needed a couple of additional, traditional UK sockets in our room as they were very limited but this was not a major concern when the Dilly experience was otherwise so very enjoyable.
